The Cannabis Corner, Episode 54

"Lukas and Dig jump Episode 54 off by comparing their experiences getting their medical cannabis cards this year. The news begins with a chat about Twitter's entry into cannabis advertising. Next up the hosts cover San Diego awarding social equity grants and an update about a pair sentenced in a cannabis and cattle Ponzi scheme. Lastly, the show updates the audience on the DEA's stance on synthetic cannabinoids. Bailey Hirschburg, of WA NORML and the Cannabis Observer, joins the show to talk about cannabis legalization, WA homegrows, cannabis consumption lounges and cannabis in popular media. A Washington State legislative update kicks off the news segment, followed by a closer look at: The FDA kicking CBD regulation over to the Congress; An Oregon story about an MSO/MCO ripping off small businesses in Oregon; And, a story out of Missouri that highlights some tips for first time cannabis consumers.

Interview:
This week Lukas interviews Chuck Olivier from Digital Balance Services about some things going on with weights and measures in the cannabis industry. They talk about increasing Federal regulatory over site of the cannabis industry, how this will affect cannabis businesses and consumers and the big question everyone wants to know, why a cannabis ounce is 28 grams and not 32 grams.

It's a Bust:
IAB travels to Oklahoma where a man was arrested with 167 pounds of cannabis in his car.

In a sad and tragic story, the news segment begins with a look at a child's death in Virginia allegedly due to "Delta 8 THC toxicity," followed by a discussion about the second annual Leafly Cannabis Report, Florida's growing medical cannabis market and Mississippi's medical cannabis outlook. In this segment Henry Hagen of the Henry Hagen Band, interviews Hempfest Organizers, activist and supporters at a Hempfest fundraiser earlier in the year. He speaks with Vivian McPeak, Levi Lyon, Caitlin Ryan of the Cannabis Alliance, Kitty Junk, Bootleg Bill, King Youngblood, Stacy Block and James Laythrim about their thoughts on where Hempfest has been and where the world's largest protestable is going. Each show Lukas and Dig take some time to talk about the ongoing arrest of people for various cannabis crimes, despite cannabis being the 6th largest crop in the country. In this episode of The Cannabis Corner, the show kicks off with Lukas hearing from Dig about how Southern Oregon may have dodged a drought this summer because of all the Northwest rain this year. In the news segment the duo covers DC prohibiting drug tests for employees, Nebraska medical cannabis news, Oklahoma halting new cannabis licenses and a town in Colorado changing its name to Kush. In this week's interview, Lukas talks to Ben Lightburn of Filament Health about an upcoming FDA approved study using Psilocin. In this episode of The Cannabis Corner, Lukas and Dig get the show started talking about the show being found in the Tacoma Public Library Special Collections as well as an announcement about two other Radio Tacoma shows and a thank you to Suzanne Skaar for the new show logo. The news section start with an FDA warning to parents to watch out for brand name candy; THC look alikes, followed by a chat about Miami's first dispensary, a New York Senator's proposal for community cannabis gardens, Zimbabwe's announcement on building a $27 million medical cannabis facility and, lastly, Thailand passing out 1 million cannabis plants. Next, Michael Sassano of Somai Pharmaceuticals is interviewed and shares his thoughts on Germany's health minister embracing adult use cannabis, countries like Zimbabwe becoming large scale cannabis producers and gives some insights on the question "How can cannabis pharmaceuticals and traditional/legacy cannabis coexist." And finally, It's a Bust travels back down to Alabama where a CBD store was raided despite the police knowing if the material seized was over the 0.3% THC threshold. The Cannabis Corner, Episode 43

Lukas and Dig get this episode started talking about the continued assault on women's rights by Republicans and how they are not going to stop with the upcoming Supreme Court decision. The pair begin the news segment discussing the proposed King County "task force" that is working on a plan to stop cannabis shop robberies, followed by a look at a failed attempt to Unionize a cannabis grow in Oregon, a lawsuit filed against former Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner and lastly, they give a quick update on the state of psilocybin legalization going on around the country. For the interview this week, Lukas speaks with Bonita Money of the National Diversity and Inclusion Cannabis Alliance (NDICA) and Mike Bologna of Dip Devices about lingering effects of the drug war on Black and Brown communities, things companies can do to promote social equity, a partnership between Dip Devices and NDICA and more.
