Storytellers from the Hilltop community volunteered to share their words to kick-off the Hilltop Story Fest presentations and performances.

Armed: A DanCe Demonstration

Armed: A DanCe Demonstration was a multimedia performance commissioned by the Community Archives Center specifically for Hilltop Story Fest. Kenya Adams was the creator, director and lead choreographer of the piece. "Once Upon a Hilltop" was shared by the narrator, Patricia Adams, and is documented in this subseries along with the complete video of the performance.

Presentations

Informational presentations were shared with the community related to Hilltop's history, the Hilltop Action Coalition, the Hilltop Plaque Project, and the Nettie J. Asberry House.

Family Photographs

Brief family story to accompany the family photographs: Sulja married Fred Warnick in Seoul, Korea, in 1968. They lived over eight years while married there, mostly in Daegu or Seoul, from 1968 until late 1976. Fred had served in the Army, Corps of Engineers, in Daegu, Korea, Oct 1964 to July 1966. They returned to Tacoma, Fred’s hometown, when daughters’ ages were 4-1/4 and 1-1/2 years old.
