Includes pamphlets collected by Royal Gove during his public service career, with information about the activities of various clubs, businesses, city departments, and other organizations in Tacoma between 1890 and 1920. Also included are photos of family and friends, including a photo album showing prominent Tacoma residents William B. and Alice Blackwell, with interior views of the Blackwell House at 401 Broadway.

Includes correspondence, journals, financial papers, legal papers, printed materials and ephemera, photos and maps. Correspondence consists of both personal and business-related letters (1873-1911). Journal entries provide twenty-two years worth of short accounts of daily farm life, and occasionally mention other early Steilacoom pioneers (1868-1912). Financial papers include tax receipts (1866-1930), handwritten and printed receipts (1861-1931), a checkbook (1861-1862), and small account books recording work, expenses, and brief journal entries (1862-1910). Legal documents include land contracts and descriptions, and court documents relating to the estate of J.W. Roberts (1911-1915). Printed materials and ephemera include a variety of items such as business cards, pamphlets, and menus (undated), and newspaper clippings (1895, 1913-1914). A small series of photos are mostly undated and unidentified. There are also two undated handwritten maps of the Spanaway area.

Includes manuscript drafts, scripts and screenplays, research files, and scrapbooks related to the works of author Della Gould Emmons. Emmons' work primarily focused on the history of Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

Includes photographs, correspondence, speeches, writings, and newspaper clippings related to Tollefson's work as the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney, a member of the United States Congress, and the Director of the Washington State Department of Fisheries. Also included are personal materials related to Tollefson's family and portraits signed by several US Presidents and other political figures.

These documents trace the family descendants beginning with John Calhoun Stallcup and Mary Pindell Shelby in the mid-1870s in Ohio and Kentucky through their life in Denver and eventual move to Tacoma, WA in 1899. The primary source material is organized with additional notes and research files compiled by the donor.

Includes commencement yearbooks and memory books, scrapbooks, maps, correspondence, photographs, meeting minutes, directories, mementos of Tacoma area logging and lumber businesses, and ephemera such as event programs.

Also included is information related to their "Alaska Friends" organization, a group for former Alaska residents living in Seattle. Includes genealogical information about the Pixler and Moriarty families, along with information and accounts of life in Kosmos, Washington including photographs taken before the creation of the Mossyrock Dam, and activities at the site since 1968 up to 2014. These copies of the 1945 and 1946 Esquire's Jazz Book, published by Smith & Durrell, Inc. were owned by Marjorie Jane Windus during her time she worked in the Chicago Illinois Blue Note Jazz Club, from the 1940s and early 1950s. These books include autographs and messages from many prominent and lesser-known jazz musicians and singers from that time.

The Kalma Hagan Scrapbook includes pictures and newspaper clippings involving the Hawthorne neighborhood, the construction of the Tacoma Dome, and the aftermath of the construction.

Five scrapbooks of Senator Ralph Metcalf's column in the TNT chronicling his travels 1927-1936.

Includes drafts, revisions, and finalized settlement documents, reports, minutes, press conference recordings, and other material related to the 1990 Land Claims Settlement reached between the Puyallup Tribe, the state of Washington, the city of Tacoma, Pierce County, private entities, and the federal government. Also included are extensive research files related to impacted lands and waterways, fishing rights, the history of the Puyallup Tribe, and other similar legal settlements.

Includes reports, studies, plans, and promotional materials related to the operations of the Port of Tacoma. Also included are "Master and Seamen Release Logs" from approximately 1910-1942.

Contains volumes 1 and 2 of the 1987 Puget Sound Environmental Atlas and the 1992 Update. Volumes 1 and 2 have corporate authors: Untied States Army Corps of Engineers, Puget Sound Water Quality Authority, United States Environmental Protection Agency, D. R. Annual reports from the Puyallup Fire Department and Puyallup Police Department including notes on accomplishments, department statistics, personal/organization charts, union activities, and training reports, among other information.

These burial cards were produced by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Agency under the Veterans' Grave Registration program in Pierce County, Washington. The range of dates spans from the mid-nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century. A majority of the individuals listed on these cards are identified as veterans of the Civil War, but also included is the Spanish-American War, the Boer War, and World War I. The information on the cards contain the person's name, rank and organization in the military, what war they are a veteran of, along with the date/place enlisted and date/place discharged by the military. Additionally, the burial information includes the name and location of the cemetery; the grave number, location, and condition of the plot; and the date of the burial along with any marker information. Also included is the date, location, and cause of death, along with a line for name and address of next of kin. Not all fields are complete on all cards. The burial locations in Washington include Tacoma, Puyallup, Orting, Sumner, Spanaway, Roy, Alder, Fort Lewis, Fox Island, and Buckley.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Buildings Index contains information on Tacoma and Pierce County buildings found in Tacoma papers, local and national magazines, and in over 200 books on local history and architecture. Each source cited in the index is available to view in the Northwest Room.

Records in this index are organized according to address, and include information on the year built, style of construction (where the literature can agree), whether the building has been demolished, and whether it appears on any local, state, or national register of historic places. Architects, builders, and contractors are listed, when known. Families or companies that may have been housed in the building are listed with dates of occupation. The location of any building plans known to exist is also provided. The Tacoma-Pierce County Buildings Index does not cover parks, bridges, dams, docks, and other infrastructures.
