STENGER-0081 Front

  • Built in Portland, Oregon in 1890, the Flyer teamed with the Fleetwood to provide passenger service from Tacoma to Seattle. So predictable was her schedule, and so quickly she traveled, that the slogan, "Fly on the Flyer" was said to be a household phrase. She gave 39 years of reliable service (partly after being rebuilt and called the Washington) and logged 1,368,740 miles before being burned as junk for the metal in 1929. She carried 170 passengers. circa 1900.
