Fill In The Blanks

Three chalkboards, measuring each four feet by four feet. Medium is three wood panels that has chalkboard paint and primer, a vinyl graphic designed banner, and wood frames and hardware. Dionne Bonner's description of the work is "Fill in The Blanks was a temporary public art project that was part of Spaceworks and Links to Opportunity public engagement efforts. I created three community chalkboards designed to facilitate input form the community on plans for development in the MLK corridor. The chalkboards were installed at 13th and MLK way on a chain-link fence next to Mr. Macs and at the Hilltop Street fair festival".

Measures eight feet by ten feet. The medium is a graphite drawing and print transfer onto wood and acrylic paint. Dionne Bonner's description of the work is "[t]his temporary art installation was installed on the grounds of the Salishan community in Tacoma, WA. The installation created an opportunity for self-reflection by remembering our lives are a collection of moments reconstructed over time. Like cells. our experiences connect to form complete vital memories".

In Loving Memory

Measures 42 feet by 17 feet. The medium is latex paint on concrete, fabricated acrylic pieces, and graffiti coating. Dionne Bonner's description of the work is "[v]iolence against our youth is devastating. In Loving Memory is a youth memorial dedicated to all the young people form the Eastside of Tacoma who have lost their lives to gun violence".

Nettie J. Asberry, A Pioneering Spirit, A Fight for Liberty and Freedom

Measures 36 inches by 48 inches. The medium is oil on canvas. Dionne Bonner's description of the work is "Nettie J. Asberry's portrait is one in a series of 13 larger-than-life oil paintings of African American pioneers. The paintings along with written biographies give a visual and historical account of the insurmountable obstacles the pioneers overcame, against all odds. Each portrait reveals a glimpse into the lifestyle of the pioneering people of the Pacific Northwest".
