Carol Blundell and Emmett Reed Miller were married August 18, 1951, at St. Luke's Memorial Episcopal Church. Carol is the daughter of Richard Archibald and Pearl H. Blundell. Emmett is the son of Ross O. and Anna F. Miller. Carol wore a gown of ivory satin with long sleeves, sheer yoke and fitted bodice. Appliques of Alencon lace provided detail at the shoulder line and the fitted satin peplum skirt over bouffant tulle extended into a circular train that was also appliqued with lace. Judith Shore and Merton Glant were married June 3, 1951, in the Army-Navy room at the Winthrop Hotel. Rabbi Bernard Rosenberg officiated at the ceremony. Judith was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murry Shore and Merton was the son of Mrs. and Mrs Samuel Glant. Both the bride and groom were graduates of the University of Washington. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina-length bouffant white organdy gown with pale pink pique flower appliques on the skirt. Janice Marie Ludwig and Richard D. North were married during an evening ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church; the candlelight wedding was a large one with the bride and groom each having eight attendants. Portrait of bride and eight bridesmaids. Dressed in lace and satin, this smiling bride apparently had a very large and elaborate wedding. Janice Marie Ludwig became the bride of Richard D. North on September 12, 1950, during an evening ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church. The bride's satin wedding gown had pointed sleeves of Chantilly lace and she carried a bouquet of stephanotis and white orchids. There are eight attendants, all dressed similarly in sleeveless white tulle with transparent stoles; Marjorie Ludwig was her cousin's maid of honor. Wedding portrait of Violet Anderson, Anderson-Thompson wedding party, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Miss Anderson, daughter of the Carl Sixtus Andersons, became the wife of John Darrell Thompson, son of the John William Thompsons, on May 12, 1951 in a double ring ceremony. The bride wore a gown of Chantilly lace with tiers of flower-edged ruffles. The bodice was lace appliqued over satin and the costume was accented by elbow length lace gloves. The veil was waist length illusion attached to a pearl trimmed lace bonnet. The bouquet was of baby gardenias and lilly of the valley. The bridesmaids wore pale green gowns of net over taffeta and carried bouquets of purple and yellow. The reception was held in the church parlor and utilized the same lavender and yellow color scheme as the wedding. Mrs. Thompson attended Lincoln High School and the University of Washington. The groom graduated from Stadium and attended Willamette University and received his degree from the University of Washington.The couple made their first home in Olympia. (TNT 5/13/1951, pg. The pointed bodice was enhanced by a lace peplum and lace cascading down the back panel of the full skirt extended to a court length train. She wore a floor-length mantilla of French lace. The Tacoma Times on their front page reported on the wedding of James H. Louie and Virginia Lew Wing who were married by Rev. Walter Macoskey on August 5, 1948 at First Baptist Church in front of 125 guests. This was the first wedding ceremony officiated for a Chinese-American couple at First Baptist Church. Virginia had been a member of the church since childhood. James is a graduate of University of Washington and received his masters degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Virginia graduated from Stadium High School and is a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital, School of Nursing. Marian Andahl - Arnold Slater wedding. Marian Josephine Andahl and Arnold Clyde Slater were married in front of 400 guests on August 14, 1948. These are believed to be the bride's attendants at the altar of Our Savior's Lutheran Church featuring the maid of honor, four bridesmaids, flower girl and candlelighters. Maid of honor Grace Cuthbert wore a gown of pale blue taffeta and carried delphiniums in crescent shape. Bridesmaids Edna Andahl, Pat Johnson, Lois Buck and Louise Sylstad were in dusty rose taffeta gowns and carried bouquets of rubrum lilies. Candlelighters, in yellow taffeta, were Delores Burns and Mrs. Andres Holt, Jr. Dressed in blue taffeta was Linda Peterson, flower girl. Marian Slater was a graduate of Stadium High School while her new husband Arnold graduated from Lincoln High School and was a Washington State College student at the time of their wedding.
