Sai Dinh Nguyen works on a statue of love and gratitude that he and Khuyen Van Hoang molded from 1,200 pounds of concrete. It isn't known yet where the statue will be placed, though some consideration has been given to moving it to a community center at Bayview, WA.

Mui Tran, 58 is learning "survival" English by reading daily from the Sears catalog, the textbook for his class at Tacoma Community College. But the former tea farmer from the high mountains of Vietnam is quickly learning why so many people call the mail-order catalogs "wishbooks." Like his classmates in 90 similar classes in Washington, Tran's inability to speak English is barring him from finding a job.

People from around the state participated in a local demonstration as "The Great Peace March" arrived in Washington D.C. They had a rally on the steps of the Capitol Building in Olympia, then had a symbolic march down the capitol grounds and a few blocks into the town. The local demonstration in Olympia was sponsored by the Nuclear Weapons Freeze Coalition.

Around 40 Iranian students marched nine miles through Tacoma, bringing attention to the revolution occurring inside Iran. They were protesting the Iranian state and the shah. Demonstrators, wearing masks, carry banners and signs reading, "Down with the Shah- the puppet of US Imperialism," "Stop and Shah's Bloodbath," and "Independence and democracy for Iran."
