College of Puget Sound, ordered by Dr. Thompson. Dr. Edward H. Todd sits at a desk writing. He was president emeritus of the college at this time. Dr. Todd served as president of the college for 29 years, from 1913 to 1942. Prior to becoming associated with educational work of the Methodist Church, Dr. Todd was a minister of that denomination for 19 years. The men's dormitory was named after Dr. Todd when it was built in 1948. (T.Times, 6i/8/1942)

Eastern Star Convention at Armory. Mrs. Eva Holland Hamilton of Chicago is on the right. She was the Most Worthy Grand Matron of the General Grand Chapter and was a visitor throughout the 59th annual session of Order of the Eastern Star held in Tacoma in June 1947. Mrs. Stephen J. Chadwick of Olympia, a past Most Worthy Matron of the General Grand Chapter, was affectionately known as "the First Lady" in Washington Eastern Star. She is wearing an overblouse of lace and crochet. Eastern Star Convention at the New Yorker Cafe, Margaret Kinnich. The Grand Chapter of Washington Order of Eastern Star held its session in Tacoma June 19 - 21, 1947. More than 2,000 members and guests were expected from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and British Columbia. A banquet was held at the New Yorker for past grand matrons and past grand patrons at the New Yorker. (T.Times, 6/12/1947, p.10) Format 6" x 10".

She was built for Joseph Fernandes and Sun Harbor Packing Company of San Diego. She was a sister ship of Sun Voyager and had a 550 h.p engine. In June of 1947 the Tacoma Police Department drove their entire fleet of Dodge sedans and trucks onto the field of the Stadium Bowl for a "group portrait." By using 21 of their vehicles they were able to create the letters "TPD" - with six panel trucks left over. TPL-9425

June flower show, Tacoma Gardens at Wells Hall. The Tacoma Garden Club held its annual spring flower show June 3, 1947, at Wells Hall. Other awards given this year were the Hazel Kenworthy Memorial Trophy for best modern arrangement and the Francis Aston Memorial Trophy for the best exhibit of Frances Ashton roses. Three table settings were displayed: an engagement table by Gertrude H. Peck, a wedding table by Lydia L. Dickman, and a golden wedding table by Claudenna S. Turner. Firemen Wally Johnson, of the Milwaukee Road, poses with the grateful woman that he rescued. Johnson scooped her up off the track, saving her life. The pair pose standing in front of a train. Chicago Milwaukee St. Paul Railways had made Tacoma its chief manufacturing point in the west. They had 300 acres with an extensive work shop and terminals, located near the tideflats. They offered transcontinental service and daily departures to Chicago.
