Reed Fixtures had moved into a larger building in 1946. They took over a fifty by ninety foot government surplus warehouse located on Center Street. They specialized in business fixtures, display cases and other commercial fixtures. The Towers' kitchen measured 33 feet by 66 feet. It had all electric appliances and was finished in stainless steel. College of Puget Sound's orchestra was first called the Puget Sound Symphony, then later changed their name to the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra. Raymond Vaught was the conductor, Clyde Keutzer was the head of the music department at CPS. Aside from the orchestra CPS music department had the Adelphian Choir and the Women's Chorus. The Condon Co. was one of the first advertising agencies in Tacoma. It was founded in 1916 by John Condon, Roscoe A. Smith is now the President. In 1943 they went through a complete expansion, preparing for an increase in business once the war was over. Three unidentified Tacoma Camp Fire Girls were photographed on March 8, 1947 as they boarded a chartered North Coast Transportation bus to a day trip to Olympia. About 200 Camp Fire Girls and their chaperones were taking part in the special "Going Places" visit to the state capitol. The "Going Places" project was organized to celebrate the birthday of the Camp Fire Girls organization. The Olympia trip was planned to teach the girls about good government. The participants were scheduled to eat their bag lunches in the capitol cafeteria. (T. Times, 3/5/47, p. 16).

Benbow Lakes Resort was located on Mountain Highway between Tacoma and Mount Rainier in Pierce County. They had five hundred acres and five lakes and offered "Nature's Wonderland". A true "Easter Parade" of fashions was on display at the afternoon tea and fashion show sponsored by the Girls Club of Stadium High School and the P.T.A. in March of 1947. On March 6, 1947, the audience at the Annual Elks Club Father-Daughter Program watched in awe as a local family of acrobats performed a series of stunts. Held in the Elks Temple, 565 Broadway, a large number of club members and their daughters and granddaughters performed in the program. The show's main attraction was a six year old pianist. (T. Tacoma Council of Churches Youth Center was first used as the United Service Center for servicemen. After the war ended in 1945, the Tacoma Council of Churches Youth Council decided a modern youth center was an ideal option for the conversion of the servicemen's center. On May 15, 1947, employees of the Carstens Packing Company gathered around their new Kartridg-Pack machine. Some of the women were working on the sausage packing line, while other employees were admiring the end product. The new machinery packed the wieners side-by-side, bound together by paper loops instead of the usual method of stringing them tail-to-tail. The Kartridge-Pack had the ability to pack 3,200 pounds of wieners per 8 hour shift. (T.Times, 5/21/1947, p.7)

College of Puget Sound was established in 1888. Their Alma Mater was "All hail to Alma Mater, The best that can be found, The spirit of the Westland---All hail to Puget Sound. Exterior of back of two-storey stucco residence with a tile roof set among mature, beautifully groomed landscaping. Steps leading from the patio to the lawn are nearly hidden by the bountiful rhododendron blooms. The mansion was originally known as "Villa Carman" changed to "Madera" in 1939. It is now the home of television actress, Linda Evans.
