These documents trace the family descendants beginning with John Calhoun Stallcup and Mary Pindell Shelby in the mid-1870s in Ohio and Kentucky through their life in Denver and eventual move to Tacoma, WA in 1899. The primary source material is organized with additional notes and research files compiled by the donor.

Financial papers include tax receipts (1866-1930), handwritten and printed receipts (1861-1931), a checkbook (1861-1862), and small account books recording work, expenses, and brief journal entries (1862-1910). Legal documents include land contracts and descriptions, and court documents relating to the estate of J.W. Roberts (1911-1915). Printed materials and ephemera include a variety of items such as business cards, pamphlets, and menus (undated), and newspaper clippings (1895, 1913-1914). A small series of photos are mostly undated and unidentified. There are also two undated handwritten maps of the Spanaway area.

The Tacoma Weekly, published by the Pierce County Community Newspaper Group, originated as the Tacoma Monthly in 1987 and became the Tacoma Weekly in 1994. Sections include local city news, sports including high schools, business and features including visual artists, bands, movies and more.

The free newspaper has been distributed in broadsheet and smaller formats as well as online over the years. A special business section ran from circa 2005-2007 and the Weekly Weedly section that focuses on marijuana news began being published in the April 28, 2019 issue.

The Coast Magazine, also known as Wilhelm's Magazine The Coast and The Coast: An Illustrated Magazine of the West, features photographs, articles, editorials, and creative writing related to the Western United States. Published by Honor Wilhelm out of Seattle, the magazine primarily covered the Pacific Northwest including topics like mining, forestry, ships and shipping, and various small towns and cities across the region. Wilhelm wrote for the publication and solicited contributions from other writers and photographers.

The Jewish Transcript is a bi-weekly newspaper serving Washington State. It began publication in 1967, changed its name to JT news in 2004 and ended publication in 2014. Jewish Transcript covered community events and news, arts and entertainment and included commercial advertisements

Asian Family Affair was a monthly newspaper serving the greater Seattle area. It began publication in 1975 and ended publication in 1985. Asian Family Affair included local and national news, sports, interviews of community members and commercial advertisements.

Asian American Alliance Newsletter was a monthly/bi-monthly newsletter that served the Tacoma/Pierce County region. It began publication in 1973 and ended publication in 1980. Asian American Alliance Newsletter included educational resources, local news and events, employment opportunities and information on community organizations such as the Asian American Advisory Council.

The Northwest Asian Weekly is a weekly newspaper based out of Seattle, WA and serves the Pacific Northwest region. It began publication in 1992 and is still producing weekly newspapers. The Northwest Asian Weekly covers local, national, and international news, local events, sports, editorials and commercial advertisements. Print edition ceased with 01/21/2023 issue, and publication is online only.

Real Change describes itself as the "Puget Sound Newspaper of the Poor and Homeless." The publication's first issue was in 1994. Real Change is published by the Real Change Homeless Empowerment Project which is a nonprofit organization that "organizes, educates, and builds alliances to create solutions to homelessness and poverty. We exist to provide a voice for the poor people in our community." The Real Change newspaper is published every other Thursday and sold by the poor and homeless of Seattle. Real Change publishes on local political issues, homeless advocacy, employment information etc. It also publishes creative writing like poetry as well as book reviews.
