Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Nicholson Bogue stand at the altar facing towards the back of the Asbury Methodist Church. They were married June 7, 1948, with Reverend Harry L. Allen officiating in the presence of 250 guests. Arnold wears a double-breasted tuxedo with black bow-tie. His new bride, the former Ella Louise Kipper, wears a formal wedding gown in the colonial style of heavy irovy satin with illusion yoke and train embellished with lace Bertha. Ella's veil is also edged with the same lace and it flows from a beaded tiara. Her bouquet of Ophelia roses and stephanotis has many ribbons cascading from it. Several men enjoy a toast at the wedding of Dorothy Ann Simpson. Miss Simpson's engagement was announced in the Tacoma Times May 10, 1947. She was the daughter of J.P. and Hazel M. Simpson. She and Mr. John J. Wilson Jr., of Boston, Massachusetts, were married at St. Patrick's Church on June 28, 1947. The reception was held at the home of the bride. Mickelina Retha Spadafore and Bertram Edward Corkill were married at the First Methodist Church (located on 423 South K Street) in evening ceremonies on July 31, 1948. Reverend M. A. Marcy officiated. The bride is the daughter of Josephine Jaconetty of Dutton, Montana and the groom is the son of Ida Corkill of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is wearing a beautiful gown of white satin with marquisette yoke, pointed long sleeves and a lace enhanced veil. The pearls around her neck were a gift from her bridegroom. Her bouquet was composed of orchids, gardenias and stephanotis. Mr. and Mrs. Corkill are pictured above in the act of cutting the three-tier wedding cake at the 100-guest reception held at Normanna Hall. Mickelina is a graduate of Lincoln High School and Bertram graduated from Vancouver Tech in British Columbia and attended the University of British Columbia. One of the largest weddings photographed by the Richards studio was the marriage of Virginia Lee (Wendy) Wagner to George Hunt Weyerhaeuser (eight and nine from left) in the summer of 1948. The wedding took place in the gardens of "Lakewold", the Wagner estate. With a wedding party and guest list of Washington's most prominent, Associated Press covered the event. The noteworthy marriage received front page coverage in the Tacoma Sunday Ledger/News Tribune and an entire page in the society section which featured Richards photographs of the event. Wedding at No. 9th St. and Oxford Church made from an old barn, Times, Paul Lantz. The bride, Myrna McCallister, is wearing a suit and corsage of orchids, and the groom, Paul Case Smith, is wearing his Army uniform. They cut the first piece of their wedding cake. The cake is decorated with a stylish wedding couple figurine. A lace tablecloth and crystal candle sticks decorate the table. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were the first bride and groom married at the new church converted from a barn, the Skyline Boulevard Christian Church. They exchanged vows before 30 guests on August 13, 1947. Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Gus Martigopoulos who were married in Tacoma on the morning of March 11, 1950 at the Greek Orthodox church. Mrs. Martigopoulos, the former Edna Williams, was the daughter of Mrs. Edna Williams of Lubbock, Texas. The reception was held in the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Martigopoulos. Tollefson-Myers Wedding. Congressman Thor Tollefson (far right) and wife Eva with Mr. and Mrs. Ardeis H. Myers of Kansas City, Missouri, visit during the reception held at the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club following the marriage of their children, Rosemary Tollefson and Ardeis H. Myers, Jr. The younger Myers is a student at the University of Missouri in Columbia and his new wife a graduate of Stephens College. Four tall, tapered candles are spaced decoratively around the cake; which has bride and groom figurines on top. The reception took place at the church parlors. The bride wore her mother's veil. Allen - Brewster wedding. Lilly Catherine Allen and Benjamin J. Brewster were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Allen, on October 7, 1939. The new Mrs. Brewster is pictured above in her gown of white satin and fingertip veil. She wore a large corsage of gardenias and roses. White and yellow 'mums and blue Michaelmas daisies provided an attractive setting for the wedding which was officiated by Rev. L. Edgar Taber and attended by close friends and relatives. The groom, Benjamin Brewster, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brewster. Both bride and groom graduated from Lincoln High School. The Sonya Mae Apartments was the couple's first home. Female wedding guests scramble for the bouquet tossed by new bride Jean McDonald Jepson. Jean McDonald and William Jepson were married on August 17, 1941 at the Little Church on the Prairie. The wedding was followed by a reception at the Steilacoom Lake home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Weller, the bride's aunt and uncle, and the site of this free for all.
