In February of 1969 Edward Taylor (far left) showed a new electric hair clippers to an unidentified customer in his newly remodeled barber shop. Mr. Taylor opened the Ed Taylor Barber & Beauty Salon at 2151 South K Street (now Martin Luther King, Jr. Way) in Tacoma's Hilltop area in 1965. With "lots of hard work" and help from the Small Business Administration he was able to develop a salon that could accommodate all types and textures of hair. In a News Tribune article published in February of 1972 he was shown working on the hair of Mel Jackson, at that time administrative assistant to Tacoma's city manager.

Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor celebrated its grand opening on May 21, 1974, with dignitaries enjoying a bite of red licorice instead of the traditional red ribbon snipping. Located in the west end portion of the Tacoma Mall, Farrell's offered delicious hamburgers and other delicacies as well as mountains of ice creams in many flavors. It was an old fashioned ice cream parlor, believed to be the 84th in a large chain. Food was not served sedately but with much horn blowing and drum beating, especially for soon-to-be popular birthday parties. Color photograph ordered by Gerber Advertising, Portland. ca. 1913. This photograph of the Eggers Fish Co., located at the City Dock at the foot of South 15th St., was taken circa 1913. The company had previously been known as the American Fish Co. which had long been operated by Theodore F. Eggers. By the 1913 City Directory, its listing had been changed from American Fish to Eggers Fish, "Successor to American Fish Co." Mr. Eggers remained as president/manager. The group of people in front of the store are probably employees. The horse-drawn cart was probably used for deliveries.

On November 13, 1935, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. King posed with a 50 year old painting, an heirloom, which they were able to save from their room during the fast moving fire at the Golden Hotel on Pacific Ave. in Bremerton. Most of their other belongings were lost to the fire. The fire started in the kitchen of the ground floor Golden Cafe and quickly spread to the living quarters above. For Bremerton Sun. The group portrait of the staff, 21 men and three women, was taken to commemorate the Grand Opening March 6, 1936 of Kerr's new modern one stop service station on 4th St., near Washington Ave. Pictured left to right in the picture are, front row, William Weber, Sig Ness, Lincoln Morse, Paul Peirson, Harold Johnson and Earl Spiecker. On November 13, 1935, fire broke out in the kitchen of the Golden Cafe in Bremerton, quickly spreading to the remainder of the building, including the Golden Hotel. This photograph was taken from the east side, showing the damage to the Golden Cafe, Hotel and the neighboring Crows Nest Cafe. More than 30 guests escaped being trapped by the fast moving fire. The building was already scheduled to be torn down and replaced. In addition to the Golden Cafe and Hotel, the building was also home to the Pacific Drug Co. and the Gate Confectionery.
