Strickland-Taylor wedding. Formal portrait of Mamie Elizabeth Strickland on her wedding day of October 23, 1965. She wed Rev. Richard Edward Taylor at the Allen A.M.E. Church, 1411 Yakima Ave. So. According to engagement information published in the April 18, 1965, News Tribune, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady A. Strickland. Rev. Taylor was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie P. Johnson-Wolf wedding. University of Wisconsin graduate students Cyntheia Yvonne Johnson and Richard Allen Wolf were married at St. Leo's Catholic Church on August 21, 1971. Pictured above is the bride, in her delicate organza gown trimmed with jeweled alecon lace including a cathedral length mantilla. With her is believed to be her mother, Mrs. Douglas Cato. The new Mrs. Wolf is also the daughter of Collie Johnson of Vietnam. She had graduated from Aquinas Academy and Marquette University. Bridal portrait. The chapel at Charles Wright Academy was the site of the Teckla Ann Slikas-Graham Morley Hicks nuptials on May 19, 1973. The recent Willamette graduates were married in a double-ring ceremony by Rev. James W. Bertolin. The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. John Slikas of Tacoma, was dressed in a silk jersey and wore a small cap with a cluster of fresh flowers. She carried a bouquet of roses, stephanotis and lily-of-the-valley. The groom is the son of Judge and Mrs. Loren D. Hicks of Salem, Oregon. The newlyweds will live in Portland where the groom is an attorney. (TNT 5-27-73, B-4)

Father McGreil performed the ceremony before 200 guests. Dorothy is shown wearing her wedding gown of ivory satin with a round neckline and tight girdle of crystal beads and pearls. The Tacoma Times on their front page reported on the wedding of James H. Louie and Virginia Lew Wing who were married by Rev. Walter Macoskey on August 5, 1948 at First Baptist Church in front of 125 guests. This was the first wedding ceremony officiated for a Chinese-American couple at First Baptist Church. Virginia had been a member of the church since childhood. James is a graduate of University of Washington and received his masters degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Virginia graduated from Stadium High School and is a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital, School of Nursing. Marian Andahl - Arnold Slater wedding. Marian Josephine Andahl and Arnold Clyde Slater were married in front of 400 guests on August 14, 1948. These are believed to be the bride's attendants at the altar of Our Savior's Lutheran Church featuring the maid of honor, four bridesmaids, flower girl and candlelighters. Maid of honor Grace Cuthbert wore a gown of pale blue taffeta and carried delphiniums in crescent shape. Bridesmaids Edna Andahl, Pat Johnson, Lois Buck and Louise Sylstad were in dusty rose taffeta gowns and carried bouquets of rubrum lilies. Candlelighters, in yellow taffeta, were Delores Burns and Mrs. Andres Holt, Jr. Dressed in blue taffeta was Linda Peterson, flower girl. Marian Slater was a graduate of Stadium High School while her new husband Arnold graduated from Lincoln High School and was a Washington State College student at the time of their wedding. Brustad - Vandenberg wedding at Fort Lewis. Florence Eleanor Brustad exchanged vows with Lt. Robert E. Vandenberg in the Fort Lewis Chapel on February 2, 1940. She is the daughter of the J.F. Brustads and he is the son of the Eben Vandenbergs, both of Tacoma. The bride is a member of the Beta Phi Kappa sorority at whose meeting her surprise engagement was announced in January of 1940. She is also a member of the Tacoma Ski Club of which Lt. Vandenberg is the president. He is currently an aide to Brig. General Maurice Thompson at Camp Murray. The wedding was followed by a reception in the Guild Hall. The couple is shown dodging rice as they leave the reception. The bride wears a garnet suit, black hat and corsage of orchids. Doris Ristvet and Frank J Malanca were married Saturday morning October 3, 1942 at Holy Rosary Church on Tacoma's east side. The reception was held Saturday evening at the church parish hall. The bride signs the marriage license while the best man, Rev. Anthony Hack, groom, matron of honor and bridesmaids look on. Mrs. Bernard Bjorkman was the matron of honor and Patricia Casper, Genevieve Stemp, and Mrs. Ernest Manning served as bridesmaids. Bert Nigro assisted his friend as Best Man. Ride on muleback of Lt. Jack Murphy and his bride at Fort Lewis on April 12, 1941. Date is probably incorrect as Salt Lake City natives Lt. Jack M. Murphy and his bride wed on February 22, 1941. His fellow officers wanted to help celebrate but due to inclement weather, this unique method of mule riding was not accomplished until March 9th. The bride and groom are pictured above, each strapped and in wicker chairs aboard a patient mule. They were then led on quite a ride to the Officers Club for a reception. (T.
