Knoell Bros., contr. -opened Sept. 1913 -"first school in N.W. with German plan assembly hall" -Hawthorne Elementary closed 6/7/1963 -Head Start and other Early Childhood Education programs used the bldg. from 1966 to 1973 -bldg. declared fire hazard in Aug. 1973 -Tacoma School District turned the bldg. over to the Puyallup Tribal Council -home to the Chief Leschi Puyallup Tribal School until 1980 -bldg. demolished in 1981 to make way for the new Tacoma Dome -plans at TPL
