Scope and content
ca. 1979. Broken windows on the Commerce Street side (1520-22) of the 1519-21 Broadway St. building were the focus of this 1979 photograph. The structure was named the Siler Block in 1889 when it was built by W.O. Siler, based on a design by architect G.C. Clements. A second story, designed by architects Bullard & Hill, was added in 1916 and the structure was renamed the H.A. Strong building. The building was renovated in 1985 and later demolished to make way for the Convention Center.
