  • The Emergency Hospital was one of the first buildings to be completed on the AYPE grounds, tending patients both before and after the fair opened in 1909. Cases involved anything from heatstroke and minor accidents, to gunshots wounds (a man was shot in the rowdy "Streets of Cairo".) The Hospital boasted of a horse-driven ambulance stationed in a garage next door. circa 1908.
