- View of the sharp-prowed ferry boat from above. Built in 1947 by Captain Alex Peabody for the Puget Sound Navigation Company (the Black Ball Line), this ferry held 100 cars, and featured staterooms and furniture from Seattle's premier department store, Frederick & Nelson. Until 1954, it ran between Seattle, Port Angeles, Washington and Victoria, B.C. In 1954, the Chinook underwent bow modification work, and was registered as a Canadian vessel, and in 1960 was turned over to the B.C. ferry system. She was re-named the Sechelt Queen in 1963, and finally retired in 1982. Attempts to convert her into riverboat-style gambling casinos in the U.S. in the 1990's came to nought, and she was listed as "disposed of" by her last owner in 1997.
