  • View of the Carnegie Library in Spokane, WA. Built in 1904, the Carnegie Library, Main Branch, was the first true library structure in the city, occupying an entire block at the east end of Browne’s Addition. Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie funded construction of the building, and acclaimed Spokane architectural firm Preusse and Zittel designed it. The building is an excellent example of neo-classical styling, exhibiting several unique and well-preserved features. The Main Branch is listed on the National Register of Historic places as part of a multiple-property nomination that includes all of the Carnegie Libraries in Washington state.

  • Message: Jefferson, Oregon, May 13, 1910; Dear Sister; I was glad to hear from you yesterday, for I had the blues bad. I think I will be gray headed in another month. Pa is worse than ever and is grumbling about something continually. I am glad you are enjoying yourself and hope you will enjoy yourself some for me too. I can't enjoy myself here. Best regards from Mamma and me. Your sister Millie.
