Originally known as the Provident Building, it became the Security Building in 1952. After renovation and remodeling in 2006, the original name was restored.

The State Industrial School for Boys in Chehalis was founded in 1889. A reform school, it is now known as Green Hill School, a detention center that offers academic and vocational education in a controlled environment. circa 1907.

In 1886 the Tacoma Land Company, and its president, Charles B. Wright, donated a parcel of land about 20 acres in size to the City of Tacoma for the purpose of being developed as a public park. His stipulation was that 'upon condition nevertheless that said land shall forever be exclusively used as and appropriated for the uses and purposes of a public park.'. circa 1911.
