In 1939, Lloyd Suiter Tires added tire recapping to its many services, making the plant one of the largest in the Northwest handling this kind of work. Here Andrew Jorgersen, Tacoma Department of Public Works and superintendent of city streets, poses with Fred Hand, Suiter salesman, next to the large Lodi section mold. Jorgersen is studying the process for the Public Works fleet. In recapping, tires with worn treads are rebuilt, adding more tread over the original casing. Lloyd Suiter was also the area distributor for U.S. Tires. (T. Times 2/1/1939, pg. 2)
