The photograph of this one and one-half story single family home was ordered by Tacoma School District No. 10 together with the house at 3807 North Verde where Sherman Elementary School's new building would be built in 1953. The old school that had been at North 38th and M Streets was razed.

One of the living rooms in the new Vista Manor Apartments has been furnished with a velvet covered sofa and arm chair, another winged arm chair with a small pattern, a solid colored carpet and dark wood tables. Draperies with a matching valence with a floral pattern were chosen. A small nook against the far wall has been furnished with a book case and side chair. A very bold pattern of water-lily leaves was chosen for the carpeting in the lobby of the new Vista Manor Apartments. A curved sectional is seen against the wall on the right while two side chairs and a step table are near the windows. Lakewood Realty was managing the sales of new homes in Mountbrook Manor, a new housing development in Lakewood. Bill W. Tietz was the developer of the Mountbrook Manor project. This model home has been decorated in the newest styles with smooth surfaces in the wooden furniture. The bricks in the fireplace against the far wall were set vertically over each other. Lakewood Realty was managing the sales of new homes in Mountbrook Manor, a new housing development in Lakewood off of Nyanza Park Drive. Bill W. Tietz, president of Tietz Construction Company, was the developer of the project. Bill Tietz indicated this development was located on land that was some of the most expensive in Lakewood. This dining area is enlivened with a bold patterned wallpaper with a rhododendron pattern. The door is opened to show the interior of a large one-car garage. The concrete floor space is empty of vehicles; it does not appear to have additional insulation in the walls or ceilings. A new home has just been sold by Valley Realty in December, 1951. The front of the home and garage appear to be built of brick while the side visible is partially wood. It appears to be a rambler in style, with fireplace and one-car garage. The new homeowner apparently will have to complete the landscaping and perhaps remove large rocks near the yard's front and side.
A bold leaf patterned carpet accentuates the spaciousness of the new Vista Manor's lobby. The multi-storied apartment building, managed by W.H. Opie & Company, was open for business in November, 1951. All 133 units were view properties; in addition, they were earthquake and fireproof. A two-car garage opens on the left and appears to connect with the kitchen through an opening at the back of the garage. The fence around a curved concrete play area has not yet been completed. The kitchen is located in the corner of the L-shaped floor plan. Ordered by John T. Steward who owned a real estate office in Lakewood. This could possibly be his home at 12305 Nyanza Road Southwest.
