Dignitaries attending Pacific Lutheran University graduation ceremonies on June 1, 1969. Dr. Lloyd Averill, second from left, was the commencement speaker. He was the sociology professor at Ottawa & Baker universities and Park College in Kansas. Dr. Averill addressed the 3,500 present on romanticism and the radicals. Standing at the extreme left is the Rev. John Larsgaard, who was the campus chaplain for 11 years. He was leaving the school to pursue graduate studies. Pacific Lutheran College was dedicating their new $200,000 science hall in October of 1947. Dr. Conrad Bergendoff, President of Augustana College and Seminary at Rock Island, Illinois, was the guest speaker. More than 1,200 people attended the dedication ceremony. Music was presented by PLC's a capella "Choir of the West." View of Rhoda H. Young, the PLC choir manager, and Dr. Gunnar J. Malmin, PLC's Director of Music. (T.
