Grain elevator, Port of Tacoma, George Osgood. A $500,000 bond issue was authorized in 1930 to provide funds for what became one of the major wheat handling terminals on the Pacific Coast. A subsequent addition to the grain elevator in 1947 brought the capacity to 1.1 million bushels. Another 500,000 addition was added in 1951. The unit was equipped with 3 receiving legs having a capacity of 100 cars per day and 2 shipping legs providing ship delivery at a maximum rate of 30,000 bushels an hour.
