The State Industrial School for Boys in Chehalis was founded in 1889. A reform school, it is now known as Green Hill School, a detention center that offers academic and vocational education in a controlled environment. circa 1907.

In 1886 the Tacoma Land Company, and its president, Charles B. Wright, donated a parcel of land about 20 acres in size to the City of Tacoma for the purpose of being developed as a public park. His stipulation was that 'upon condition nevertheless that said land shall forever be exclusively used as and appropriated for the uses and purposes of a public park.'. circa 1911.
