A new department had been added to the expanded store at 1145 Broadway. They handled coal, wood and oil circulating ranges, including the Olympic and Great Western banquet lines.

On March 2, 1937, the Tacoma Times Spring Fashion section hit the newstands, featuring two couples modeling the latest in suits and coats from Klopfenstein's, Inc. Gathered around the piano at the Winthrop Hotel were Nancy Hawks in a classic Rothmoor coat, Don Baker in a Hart-Schaffner suit and Irene Tollefson, also in Rothmoor. Pictured left to right at the Winthrop Hotel were Nancy Hawks, of Dallas Texas, in a classic Rothmoor coat, Don Baker in a Hart-Schaffner suit, Irene Tollefson in Rothmoor and Vic Vine in Hart Schaffner. Frank Melanson and Johnny Pavolka announced the opening of their new barbershop in the bus terminal at 14th and Pacific in August of 1939. They had been barbering together off and on in Tacoma since 1915. The new shop, with its tile back bar and individual round mirror behind each chair, was the first shop of its kind on the west coast according to Mr. Melanson. (T.Times 8/11/1939 p.7)
