Thousands of spectators crowded the streets of Tacoma to watch the Tacoma Jubilee parade on June 25, 1946. Many of the floats carried candidates for the title of Jubilee Queen, including this old touring car sponsored by Griffin Fuel Company. It carried "Lulubelle". The men in the car stated "Lulubelle was a little too fresh." Lulubelle is really Einar Stenhommer, next to Lulu is Len Wilson, driving the car is Lyle Olson and on the right is Ralph Lewis . Tacoma enjoyed the 1939 Washington State Golden Jubilee celebration so much that the city decided to hold a Jubilee in 1946 that commemorated absolutely nothing. (T. Times, 6/26/46, p. 1).

Tacoma Boat launched a Pacific Coast-type purse seiner. The "F. D. Roosevelt" was built under the UNRRA contract for Yugoslavia. It is a modern boat completely refrigerated, powered by a 360 horse power engine, with diesel generators, 85 feet long, 22 foot beam and a 10,000 mile range. Morris Jaffe-Edith Brodsky held their wedding and wedding reception at the Crystal Ballroom of the Hotel Winthrop on November 3, 1946. Eleven waitresses, a chef and kitchen manager stand behind the heavily laden banquet serving table. The bride was the daughter of Phillip and Anne Brodsky. Serenading Cain. A group of supporters sing the praises of Senator-elect Harry P. Cain during a November 15, 1946, banquet in his honor at Clover Park High School. Cain, formerly mayor of Tacoma, would be heading off to Washington D.C. as the state's newest senator. His Interlaaken neighbors hosted the banquet for Cain and his wife, Marjorie. ALBUM 13.

The man on the right has been identified as C. Nathan Lynn. His wife, Grace, was "Daisy Mae" for the Sadie Hawkins Dance. Al Capp's popular comic strip, "Li'l Abner," was the inspiration for the Sadie Hawkins dance sponsored by the Stardust Dance Club in November of 1946. To help advertise the dance Grace M. (Mrs. C. Nathan) Lynn, as "Daisy Mae," tugs on a suspender of Harold Tollefson, "Li'l Abner," while he tries to make his getaway. Club members were invited to dance in true "Dog Patch" style at the Dash Point Community Hall in celebration of Sadie Hawkins Day, when bachelors stepped warily to avoid getting nabbed by marriage-minded girls. Mrs. Lynn and Mr. Tollefson are acting this scene in front of a large fireplace with a poster of "Our Hero" and "Our Heroine" over the mantel - Abner and Daisy Mae in color. Harold Tollefson would later be elected mayor of Tacoma three times. (T.Times, 11/30/1946, p.11)

Club of Hearts 11th annual Christmas dance was held in the Crystal and Junior ballroom at the Winthrop Hotel. The elaborate decorations included a huge red banner with "Merry Christmas" written in silver, hung behind the orchestra. The Day Nursery Club of Tacoma was sponsoring an Easter egg hunt for children of club members and children who went to the Day Nursery School. Griffin Fuel Company along with many other prominent Tacoma business and organizations were getting ready the the annual Puyallup Valley Daffodil Parade. Their float was covered in daffodils and was using the Harem motif, but would also include the infamous "Lulubelle Griffin", a regular in the Tacoma parade scene. Ed Griffin was President of Griffin Fuel Company in Tacoma.
