Gyro Club District Convention. Twelve guests take a break from the festivities. The Gyro Club District Number 4 held their three-day convention August 8, 9, and 10th, 1946, in Tacoma. 500 delegates representing 18 clubs from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia attended the convention. Business was conducted during the daytime. A golf tournament was held the first evening and a barbeque dinner and dance was held the second evening at the Country Club. The convention would conclude with a dinner/dance held in the Crystal Ballroom of the Winthrop Hotel. (T.Times, 8/9/1946, p.1)

Group of Camp Fire Girls meet at Mason Methodist Church. The Camp Fire Girls honored local leaders at the Fire Maker Tea at the Mason Methodist Church on January 24, 1948. They honored two Tacoma women who had made contributions to the community: Mrs. Charles Mason who brought points of opera interest to the girls and Pansy D. (Mrs. W.W.) Over 400 members and guests were expected for the Rudder Club's Valentine Party held on February 10, 1948. The Y-Teen Club of the Tacoma YWCA sponsored a dance for Tacoma teens on February 7, 1948 at the South Tacoma Community Center, 4851 South Tacoma Way, to raise funds for the Y-Teen Conference that was scheduled for February 20-22 in Bellingham. In the very front five women are dressed as belly dancers with sheer skirts, midriff exposed and egyptian head pieces. Women in the middle are wearing white cossack-style costumes with blouson pants, cumberbund and high-necked, long, full sleeved blouses. Junior Red Cross volunteers can be seen working in the Production Program of the Red Cross. The Production Program made hospital garments and children's clothing for disaster and overseas needs. The Order of AHEPA held their meetings at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. They participated in the annual bazaar held for the "Athenian Holiday", where you could find authentic Greek foods, pastries and handicrafts, all prepared by the Daughters of Penelope of the Order of AHEPA, the women's auxiliary group. Junior Sheriff's patrol, Pierce County, Deputy Sheriff badge. Deputy Sheriff Gordon Hill organized Pierce County schools so that each school would have a Junior Sheriff's chief of patrol. Badges were given to each chief. (T.Times, 5/12/1947, p.3)

Rainbow Convention. The 21st State Assembly was held in Tacoma in June of 1947. Eleven people stand on the stage. An older couple are in the middle, the woman holding long-stemmed flowers. Miss Margaret Arnold of Renton was Grand Worthy Advisor of the Grand Assembly of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Washington, Idaho and Alaska. She presided over this assembly. Rainbow Convention. 600 Rainbow girls are seated at tables and some stand along the side and back of the room for the banquet held at the New Yorker shere the initiation of the order was put on with Miss Margaret Arnold, Grand Worthy Advisor presided. Rainbow Convention. Rainbow girls kneel wearing smocks and holding candles for a candle-light ceremony. The honorary degree, Grand Cross of Color, which is conferred on those who have given outstanding service to Rainbow was given to 125 Rainbow girls, Masons and Eastern Stars the last day of the session. Labor was well represented in the Clean-up Tacoma Campaign in 1948. Twenty members of Painters' Union Local 64 (AFL) gave Tacoma's totem pole at 10th and A Streets a new look April 11 and kicked-off the campaign. The steel scaffolding needed to do the job was donated by Safeway Steel Scaffolding. Max Frolic with 27 of Tacoma's union musicians played during the kick-off ceremonies and painting. Miss Ackerman, also four Red Cross students, Red Cross Miss T. Four members of the Pierce County Junior Red Cross attended the national Red Cross convention in San Francisco. The Juniors met sequentially with the parent organization. This was the first time in ten years that the Red Cross Convention was held on the Pacific Coast. College of Puget Sound students were helping place nine brass plaques bearing the name of one of the fraternities and sororities, which have been active for the past twenty five years. The plaques are being placed by the Student Union Building. The students and college administrators participated in a special dedication just prior to the cement being poured.
