This is the Science Building at the College of Puget Sound as viewed in April of 1931. The $175,000 structure was designed by architects Sutton, Whitney & Dugan and constructed by J.E. Bonnell & Sons. In 1932 the building was re-dedicated to the memory of Leonard Howarth. G67.1-006

This view of the College of Puget Sound campus was taken on a lovely spring day in 1931. By this time the school had been at its North Warner address for seven years. The major buildings on campus were constructed of brick and resembled those built in Tudor style. G67.1-003

The College of Puget Sound (now University of Puget Sound) Yell Leaders of 1930-31 fanned the flames of school spirit and athletic competition to a white heat. Lincoln High School presented its annual Christmas program on December 22, 1931. The 60-piece orchestra and 100-member chorus posed together with director, Margaret Goheen (far left, first row). Handel's "Messiah, " Lincoln High School's oratorio was so much in demand that a repeat performance was held the following Sunday at Mason Methodist Church. 2600 people wanted free admission to the school performance but the school auditorium only had 1500 seats. The News Tribune reported that the students gave a fine performance with a pleasing appearance by the singers, dressed in black and white surplices for the chorus and white for the soloists. 1923 May Day Queen. Babbie Gilpin was crowned Queen of May at Annie Wright Seminary's annual Field Day held on May 12, 1923. She is pictured here along with her royal court. Ceremonies were held in the afternoon on the Seminary's lawn where Miss Gilpin passed through an aisle formed by students all wearing white. Undated elevated view of of Stadium High School; copy made on May 28, 1926. Built for use as a hotel but never completed as such, it was converted into a high school in 1905. It supposedly resembles an old French castle and has an outstanding marine view. The school had its name changed to Stadium High School in 1913. It was rededicated in 2006 after two years of major renovation. TPL-2939 BU-11374
