The Annie Wright Seminary Junior Prom, held Saturday April 17, 1937 in the Great Hall at the school. The dance had a Dutch theme and was scheduled to honor the senior class before their graduation in June. Three couples were photographed wearing formal attire and standing in front of a fireplace. The room was embellished with elaborate decorations. Pictured left to right are Robert Cowden, Barbara Bogan, Betty June Howe, Clinton Campbell, Elizabeth Post and Gordon Ketring. A newly crowned Kai Wonderly reigns as the 1968 May Day Queen on the campus of Annie Wright Seminary. Kai is a senior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wonderly of Tacoma. Dressed in traditional white gown with long, flowing train, she is seated on a flower-bedecked throne holding her scepter and a bouquet of colorful daisies. May Day at Annie Wright Seminary. May Queen Kai Wonderly waits with her senior attendant and small royal attendants on the grassy lawns of Annie Wright for the processional to begin on May 18, 1968. The petite youngsters are dressed in white with one carrying the queen's crown and another the scepter. Each year one senior girl was chosen as May Queen although the entire school participated in the festival. May Day court - Annie Wright School. Although the school's name had changed from Seminary to School, traditions such as May Day still remained. The 1973 May Day Queen Lisa Bean and her royal court posed proudly for their formal portrait on May 12, 1973. Included were senior girls from Iran, Hong Kong and Japan. Annie Wright Seminary.The interior of Raynor Chapel with the girls choir singing is the location of the memorial service for Founder's Day, marking the 60th year since Annie Wright Seminary was opened by the Right Reverend John A. Paddock. An open house will be held after lunch. Annie Wright Seminary was named after the daughter of Charles B. Wright who had extensive business interests in Tacoma and the Northwest.
