Ray Ridge Motors. A rear view of a new 1947 Lincoln Continental including the driver's side. The rear wheel wells are skirted and the spare tire is encased in a special cover at the rear of the automobile. The rear bumper is highly reflective and a rear lamp is seen just behind the spare tire. The automobile is parked outside Annie Wright Seminary.

Annie Wright Seminary Winter Formal Dance, TNT, Ernie Knight. The freshman and sophomore classes planned the winter formal dance at Annie Wright Seminary in honor of the juniors and seniors. The "Winter Wonderland" was complete with a ceiling of blue crepe paper from which hung hundreds of snowflakes. Guests entered through a gateway covered with glistening boughs guarded by snowmen. Dagmar Quevli and Fred Veatch are pictured on January 24, 1948 entering through the arch followed by Mary Carol Thompson and Wayne Knight. (TNT 1/24/1944, p.5; 1/28/1948, p.10)

Panhellenic Tea at Great Hall, Annie Wright, News Tribune, Mrs. Hosmer. The Tacoma Panhellenic honored graduating senior high school girls and their mothers at their annual tea on April 24, 1948, at the Great Hall at Annie Wright. The program consisted of talks by Miss Maxine Blake and Miss Jacquine Norback about college life from the student's view point. Lona Huseby played Chopin and Debussy on the piano. The Clover Park choir sang. This view shows four women wearing corsages in front of one of the fireplaces in the Great Hall. (T.Times, 4/22/1948, p.10)

Annie Wright Seminary's May Day Festival, children are dressed as the royal attendants for the 1948 May Queen. Marilyn Meyer, daughter of Fred J. and Florence Meyer, of Tacoma would be crowned the May Queen of Annie Wright Seminary. These children would present her with her scepter and her crown. The May Day festival would also have a traditional May Pole dance. This aerial photograph of part of the northwest section of the Stadium District was taken in August of 1948. The large Tudor Gothic design building at the bottom is Annie Wright Seminary, 827 Tacoma Avenue North, which opened at this address in 1924. Immediately above Annie Wright are the courts and clubhouse of the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club, 502 Borough Road. The large area of trees to the left is the "top" end of Garfield Park. TPL-9494

Annie's Birthday at Annie Wright, Times, Miss E. Lewis. Gathered in the Great Hall, graduates of the 1948 class at Annie Wright Seminary completed the traditional spade hiding ceremony and said good-bye to one another as they prepared to leave for different colleges through the country. They hid the spade for the class of 1949 to find. In addition, according to custom, the choir at the first service of the school year was made up of graduates of Annie Wright.
