Impeachment trial of Public Safety Commissioner Einar Langseth for misconduct and neglect of duty stemming from allowing illegal gambling to prosper in Tacoma. L to R: Corporation Counsel Howard Carothers, Defense counsel E.K. Murray, Commissioner Langseth, Public Utilities Commissioner R.D. "Bob" O'Neil, Public Finance Commissioner C. Val Fawcett, Public Works Commissioner Abner Bergersen, Mayor Harry P. Cain during one-day impeachment hearing on April 30, 1943. Mayor Cain served as his own counsel when he attempted to remove Commissioner Langseth from his office. The city council chose to retain Commissioner Langseth; Mayor Cain had the only "no" vote.
