ca. 1933. Interior of the "Happy Days Here Again" Beer Parlour. This is the "Gentleman's Service," a specific area of the bar where only men were admitted. The men would then be free to drink, smoke and make off color remarks and jokes without offending the ladies. Customers pose with one foot on the railing, while white coated bartenders line up behind the bar. Happy Days offered both gents and Ladies service. The tavern was managed by Albert D. Innocenti.

ca. 1933. Full Gospel Tabernacle and Rescue Mission, Evangelist Bertha Mitchell, Pastor in Charge. This is a rare view in the thirties; the church is fully integrated and the minister is a woman. The church group appears to be meeting in a rough basement with exposed beams and pipes and a light bulb hanging down from a wire.

ca. 1933. Crowds gather at Funland, an amusement park, located at Point Defiance and operated by the Point Defiance Amusement Co. One of the most crowded areas of Pt. Defiance Park on a weekend day in 1933 would be Funland, as families purchased tickets to experience the carnival rides. Spectators in the front are viewing the action on a circular track. While in the back is the tall steel structure spinning the Swing ride. Tall light standards each support two distinctive lights and bulb lights are strung between the standards for extra evening illumination.

ca. 1933. Guido F. Cinelli came to Tacoma from Italy in 1902 at the age of 18 and opened the G. Cinelli Company food importing business in 1913 in a building at 1549 South C. In 1926 he moved his business to this building at 2132-34 Pacific Avenue. The company specialized in imported Italian food, and they manufactured their own macaroni on the third floor of the building. Guido Cinelli died in 1952 at the age of 68. The G. Cinelli Co. went out of business at this address in 1957.

ca. 1933. Original of advertising copy photograph for Mr. Atkins Knitted Garments. Mrs. Ruth Tabor and her daughter Gloria knitting on PikLooms. (see 2673-6B for altered photo) Both Mrs. Tabor and her daughter are wearing knitted outfits as they pull yarn through the looms from the large stack between them. Gloria has a scrape or bruise on her knee, which is edited out in the altered photo.

ca. 1933. An olive oil label featuring a map of Italy for G. Cinelli & Co. of Tacoma. G. Cinelli & Co. was a family business owned by Guido Cinelli. It was located at 2132-24 Pacific Ave. The company imported olive oils and "fancy groceries" from Italy and manufactured macaroni. The Cinelli family lived at 1521 So. "J."
