Young Women's Inn, located at 1011 South 3rd Street, opened in 1912, "to care for those who are lonely," according to an article in the Tacoma Daily Ledger on August 18, 1912. The motto on the letterhead of the organization stated: "We provide a pleasant, modern home with especial care for the spritual, moral and social welfare of young girls. In the realm of morals an ounce of prevention is worth many pounds of cure." There was room for 25 girls, and the names of the trustees and officers of the organization were listed to ease the fears of any skeptical citizens who may have doubted the intentions of the owners in establishing the residence. circa 1913.
