The building was not ready for students until just before the holiday break in December of 1947. Two beds, a dresser and study table are shown. A typewriter with paper in it sits on the table. Members from Washington, Oregon and Montana attended. Three main topics were discussed: new member selection, activities and expansion of activities. Home portrait of Mrs Schneider, Anderson Hall, CPS, Mrs. Hosmer, News Tribune. Mrs. Carolyn Schneider was the head of the Tacoma Art League who had galleries in Jones Hall at the College of Puget Sound. She was also the housemother for Anderson Hall, a women's dormitory on the campus of the College of Puget Sound. She stands by a bookcase with a drawing of a goat above it. Several interiors at CPS, Murtough Supply, Frank Murtough. Murtough Supply Company, owned by Frank J. Murtough, handled cleaning supplies and equipment and were distributors of Franklin's R.G. Products, Clarke & Finnell Floor Machines and Multi-Clean Vacuums. They were located at 706 Pacific Avenue. This interior view features an open hallway with seating, an elaborately carved side table, a portrait of a man wearing academic robes, and a grandfather clock. Draperies are closed over the windows. Banisters for the stairways are also shown.

Ed Miller, President of Miller Construction Company, Inc. was one of the founders of the Homebuilders' Association of Tacoma. This organization was affiliated with the National Association of Homebuilders of the United States; the group promoted better values in homes, developed efficiency in the homebuilding industry, and they continuously promoted long-range plans to expand further building developments in this area (T.N.T., 4/26/49, p. 22).

A model home was built outside the College of Puget Sound Fieldhouse to be displayed during the 1952 Home Show. A capacity crowd attended Jack Lacy's Sales Clinic at the College of Puget Sound that was presented by the Tacoma Sales Executive Club over three evenings. All shows were sold out days ahead of the lectures. William S. Crean, vice president of Lacey Sales Institute, flew from San Francisco for a three-city itinerary which included Vancouver, B.C., and Seattle, and Tacoma. (TNT, 2/2/1952, p.19)

Pfaff sewing machine booth at the 1952 Home Show, operated by McClanahan's Blue Ribbon Appliance Center at 8404 So. Tacoma Way (Mrs. Mildred McClanahan pictured) and the Pfaff Sewing Machine Center at 781 Broadway. The fourth annual Home Show was held from April 3-6, 1952 and had 20,000 square feet of commercial exhibits designed to entice homeowners improve their standard of living and to spruce up their homes.

Exposure of Easter Sunrise service at the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse. A large choir of children and teens stands ready to sing. Services held with the rising of the sun to celebrate Easter were city wide events and well attended.

Booth at 1952 Home Show sponsored by South Tacoma Heating Co., at 5625 So. Montgomery, and Rossoe Manufacturing Co. Cardboard cuties in corsets stand among the furnaces to advertise that it's "time to modernize with Honeywell clock thermostats." The fourth annual Home Show, sponsored by the Tacoma Master Builders, drew crowds of approximately 13, 480 over its four day run. The Show had commercial exhibits, a furnished model home on site and working demonstrations of household skills.

Gaily fronted by a white pickett fence, this booth at the 1952 Tacoma Home Show looks comfy and homey as befits its sponsor Lindstrom's Home Furnishings, "your friendly country store." The display has a dining room set for $229.95, an easy chair for $129.95 and a love seat for $159.95. Also exhibited are carpet samples and boldly patterned drapes. Lindstrom's was located at 8021 Portland Ave.

Rose Marie Murphy and Bruce Courtney Dennis were married November 30, 1952, at the Gail Pauline Day Memorial Chapel at the College of Puget Sound. Rose Marie and Bruce are surrounded by members of their families. Rose Marie was the daughter of Kenneth and Rosa Murphy. There would be 163 candidates for degrees at C.P.S.'s 67th Commencement held on June 5, 1955. Governor Langlie's topic would be "Putting Meaning into Life." Cheerleading camp. About 90 cheerleaders gathered at the University of Puget Sound in mid-July of 1969 for several days of cheerleading camp. Wearing their respective school cheer outfits, the junior high and high school pepsters hailing from Washington and Idaho posed in front of the university's music building. New science complex at the University of Puget Sound. After more than two years of construction, the new science building, named in honor of longtime U.P.S. president R. Franklin Thompson, was dedicated in April, 1968. The $4,000,000 science complex was the largest building project in the school's (then) 80-year history. It was designed by Nelson, Karona & Zeigler, architects, and built by McDonald Bldg. Co. View of U-shaped, three story Thompson Hall facing Union Ave., shows off the Tudor-Gothic brick architecture. A circular fountain, 74-feet in diameter, lay in the middle of the complex. The fountain would become the scene in the coming years of much illicit wading, dunkings and pranks. College of Puget Sound summer band camp group posed on the campus. For the first time, the music department of CPS would be offering a program combining music study with vacation and recreation. The camp would be open to high school students receiving a superior rating in solo and ensemble playing, who exhibit scholarship and good character. The students would live at the college and be given a private lesson each week as well as instruction in harmony and arranging. In addition, the group would perform several concerts throughout the summer. Sixty five students participated in the first month long camp. (T. Former State Senator and College of Puget Sound history professor Walter Davis, for alumni magazine. Hat in hand, Sen. Davis poses on the brick steps leading to Jones Hall on the campus of the College of Puget Sound. He represented the people of the 27th District in the State Legislature for eight consecutive terms from 1913-1929. All the while he remained a college professor, having come to CPS in 1907 to teach history and political science. He was a member of the Board of Curators of the Historical Society since 1914, a member of the Tacoma Park Board from 1927-32 and a director of Central Bank since the bank's founding. Sen. The Tamanawas group was in charge of publishing the annual yearbook, they selected photos that represented the school years activities, as well as included general student body photos. College of Puget Sound Spurs. Fifteen members of the Spurs are wearing their uniforms, white skirts, white blouses and sweaters with the Spurs emblem. The Spurs is a college women's national honorary organization. Members are elected during the spring term of their freshman year by fellow students and initiated into Spurs during fall term of their sophomore year. They are chosen based on personality, scholarship, leadership and activity in college affairs and comprise one of the main women's service organizations on the campus.
