Times. Coach Frank Patrick gives the team a chalk talk during the pre-game briefing. They are all crowded into the team's locker room. This was Coach Patrick's second season as Logger grid coach. The Tacoma Athletic Commision sponsored the 5th annual Grid-Go-Round in 1947. The game brought together the teams from Lincoln, Stadium, Bellarmine and Clover Park in the local football inaugural. This close up of halfback Otto Fink, in his battered leather helmet, was taken just before the September 1947 Grid-Go-Round football game sponsored by the Tacoma Athletic Commission. Otto Fink, a letterman at Bellarmine, had been on both the all-Northwest Catholic team and the all-City team in 1946. As a returning senior, he helped the Bellarmine Lions defeat Lincoln to win first place in the Grid-Go-Round. Wayne Hanby, a Clover Park High School guard wearing his regulation leather helmet, was ready for action in the upcoming Grid-Go-Round on September 19, 1947 at the Tacoma Stadium. Ten thousand fans attended the 5th annual event, sponsored by the Tacoma Athletic Commission, that pitted Lincoln, Stadium, Bellarmine and Clover Park against one another. The Grid-Go-Round was played as an elimination affair with the four teams drawing for first round opponents, looser playing looser in the third period and the winners meeting in the final stanza. Bellarmine High School football team is celebrating a victory after playing on a wet and muddy field. Their victory brings them closer to the state title and championship. Bellarmine High School won their first city high school championship in 20 years of competition in November of 1947 when they beat Lincoln High School 14-0 at the Tacoma Stadium. It was their first win ever against Lincoln. Their victory over Lincoln guaranteed that the traditional Thanksgiving Day game between Lincoln and Stadium would be the first in 20 years that would not determine the winner of the Tacoma crown.

College of Puget Sound 1947 homecoming football game was being played against the Willamette Bearcats. CPS football coach, Frank Patricks, was hopeful that their losing streak would end with the homecoming game. The Loggers had played against, San Jose and Whitman, and had lost those games. Coach Patricks stated that although they had not won a game yet, they had improved from last season.

This was the Lincoln High School football team, about to conclude their 1953 season. Senior players would graduate in 1954. According to the 1954 Lincolnian yearbook, the team placed first in the City and second in the Cross State League. After the end of the season, fullback Jim Jones (#80 -third row) was selected as the South Tacoma Kiwanis "inspiration award' winner by his fellow players in an almost unanimous vote. Head football coach was Norm Mayer, right, and Harry Bird, to Mayer's left, was the line coach. Captain Everett Gust led his Stadium Tigers football team to victory in the 9th annual Grid-Go-Round sponsored by the Tacoma Athletic Commission. The football game on September 14, 1951, featured four Tacoma area football teams: Stadium, Clover Park, Lincoln and Bellarmine. Gust, a fullback, recovered a Lincoln fumble in the title match, which eventually led to the final score of 6-0. The captain led his Puget Sound Conference Warriors to a third place win as he scored his team's only touchdown in a 6-0 victory against the Bellarmine Lions. In November of 1926, the Stadium High School Tigers practice making a goal the hard way, as they try to push a brand new Nash Six Roadster with a football balanced on top. They found the Nash, with its brakes set, hard to budge. The first string Tigers are, left to right, Ned Simpson, "Red" Goble, Mel Black, Paul Anderson (at wheel), Glen Lawson, George Tibbets, Earm Hayden, Les Yansen, Jim DuPree, Bill Simpson, Alvin Shenckell and Joe Hansen. Armistice Day Navy-Army Football Game at Stadium Bowl. Over 8,000 people packed the stands on November 11, 1935 for a charity Army vs. Navy Armistice Day football game held at the Stadium Bowl. The Navy arrived from Bremerton on the ferry Kalakala and stayed to defeat the Army 6 to 2 on a field that resembled a sea of mud. For Bremerton Sun.
