Floral fish blowing trumpets herald the arrival of Seattle Seafair's Queen on this float inviting all of Tacoma to "Come to the Fun" at Seattle's 1952 Centennial Seafair. The Seafair float is followed by a car pulling a flatbed loaded with young women in white evening gowns.

Seattle's entry in the 1952 Daffodil Festival Parade. Seattle's Seafair Queen rides majestically along on a float with a decidely nautical theme. She is seated in a giant shell adorned with a glittering starfish while fish announce her arrival with a flourish of trumpets.

Throngs eagerly awaited the appearance of the many floats and marching units in the 1952 Daffodil Festival Parade. Lovely ladies representing Tacoma, Puyallup and Sumner waved to the crowds at the corner of South 9th and Pacific Ave. while aboard a daffodil-filled float which included a "fountain."

Sally Bertucci and her mother select a dress for the mother-of-the-bride at Andrews Women's Apparel. Miss Bertucci was the fiance of Richard Boyle. Andrews was owned by Mrs. Valerie L. Andrews and sold ladies' apparel, coats, suits, dresses, millinery and Charles of the Ritz cosmetics. The Bertucci-Boyle wedding took place on May 24, 1952.

Margie Orris stands on a curved staircase admiring a bouquet at Miethkes Flower Shop. The shop sold and delivered floral arrangements and offered small gifts for sale. The address for Miethkes is given in the 1952 phone book as "Milton Ave.- foot of the Hill, Route 2, Tacoma" and in the 1953 phone book as " 1 mile East of Old Fife Square, RFD 2." Photo ordered for the never published TNT wedding layout of 1952. The TNT pressmen were on strike from April - August of 1952 and no papers were published during the time that weddings were usually featured. Miss Orris wed Gary Myles White on August 9, 1952 at St. Patricks. Miss Orris was the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Frank F. Orris and the bridegroom elect was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.K. White. Leo Rink selecting a tuxedo at Hy Mandles & Son for his upcoming wedding. Hy Mandles & Son was a men's clothier owned by Mrs. Anna G. Mandles (widow of Henry Mandles) and Aaron H. Mandles. Leo Rink and his bride elect Jeanne Farrar were married on October 5, 1952 at St. Patricks Church. The future Mrs. Rink was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Farrar and a graduate of Lincoln High School. Rink was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Rink and a graduate of Bellarmine and Seattle College. The couple made their first home at 809 So. 5th St. Photograph shot for the never published 1952 TNT bridal layout. Aerial view of 1952 Daffodil Parade as it proceeds down Pacific Avenue. The day of the parade dawned clear and sunny, prompting 200,000 Tacomans to line the parade route. People stood 10 deep at prime viewing spots, with others watching from windows, awnings, hanging from fire escapes and perching on roofs.

Booth at 1952 Home Show sponsored by South Tacoma Heating Co., at 5625 So. Montgomery, and Rossoe Manufacturing Co. Cardboard cuties in corsets stand among the furnaces to advertise that it's "time to modernize with Honeywell clock thermostats." The fourth annual Home Show, sponsored by the Tacoma Master Builders, drew crowds of approximately 13, 480 over its four day run. The Show had commercial exhibits, a furnished model home on site and working demonstrations of household skills.

Gaily fronted by a white pickett fence, this booth at the 1952 Tacoma Home Show looks comfy and homey as befits its sponsor Lindstrom's Home Furnishings, "your friendly country store." The display has a dining room set for $229.95, an easy chair for $129.95 and a love seat for $159.95. Also exhibited are carpet samples and boldly patterned drapes. Lindstrom's was located at 8021 Portland Ave.

A large wedding party poses for pictures at the Willis-Bushnell nuptials. Shirley June Willis and David S. Bushnell Jr. were married August 8, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church. The bride was the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Henry Willis of Tacoma and the groom was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David S. Bushnell of Seattle. The bride wore Chantilly lace over ice blue tulle and satin with an ice blue fingertip veil. The bridal attendants were Mrs. George W. Brewer, Mrs. Alvin Lackey, Mrs. W. Benjamin Davis, Mrs. Harry Sanky, Miss Jeanne Shugard and Miss Billie Mellis. Junior attendants were Linda Willis and Gary Willis. The best man was the groom's twin brother Donald D. Bushnell. Ushers were Alvin Lackey, Gail Halliday, Wes Wager, Robert Hagedorn and Wayne Willis. Lois Gunderson and Carol Berger were candlelighters. The reception was held at the Tacoma Lawn and Tennis Club. The bride was a graduate of Stadium High School and the University of Washington, where she was president of Pi Beta Phi sorority and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Flower girls to the left of picture with their baskets and serving party to the right of them. The table is set with plates, coffee cups, a white cloth, candelabra and an entwined floral display of rosebuds and ivy. Mrs. Martin Wall and Mrs. Karl Kuhlers presided at the reception assisted by Mrs. Banks Butter, Mrs. Duke Nutter, Mrs. Gordon Nelson, Mrs. Wesley Hillman and the Misses Kathy Sharman, Janice DeJardine, Anita Roberts & Marion Roberts. The groom was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Swenning and attended Clover Park, the College of Puget Sound and Central Washington College of Education. Miss Margaret Dillon was the maid of honor. Wedding of LaMoyne Barcott and John Hreha. LaMoyne is the daughter of Anton and the granddaughter of John Barcott. John Barcott, an immigrant from Yugoslavia, founded the California Oyster House on money raised from logging in Alaska. In 1946, John turned over the management of the restaurant to Anton. The Oyster House closed in 1958 and the family opened Harbor Lights on Ruston Way in 1959. LaMoyne eventually took over the management of the the famous waterfront restaurant. The couple were also avid magicians and won the best comedy act at the 1953 Convention of Pacific Coast Association of Magicians in Spokane for "the Vanishing Monkey." The bridegroom was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hreha, Sr. and a junior at the College of Puget Sound. The couple graduated from Lincoln High School. The bride wore a white gown of tulle over satin.

Dagmar Quevli radiates happiness as she poses for her bridal portrait in the Great Hall wearing a French petite brocade gown. She carried a simple bouquet of white chrysanthemums and asters. The bridegroom is the son of Conrad P. and Vera Gass. Patricia wore a white satin gown covered with French Chantilly lace above the waist and below in panels down the front and back where the lace extended the length of her train. Several unidentified children crowded onto a few chairs during the festivities at Katherine June Craig's and George Vincent Rickard's wedding on July 19, 1952 at the Parkside Church. Four of the girls wore similar brocade dresses with wide ruffles at the neckline, indicating that they may have been members of the wedding party. Another girl wore a white dress with an eyelet edged ruffle. The boy on the left wore a carnation boutonniere and held a ring pillow - he must have been the ring bearer. The full skirt extended over a hoop into a dance length train. Mr. and Mrs. Hoff established a home in Portland after August 27th.
