Exhibit booth at the 1952 Tacoma Home Show for Miller Construction Co. advertising Skyline Terrace. These three bedroom homes were located on view lots, having views of the mountains, Tacoma, the Puget Sound or the Narrows Bridge. Several pictures are displayed and the different floor plans are named Stylemaster, Viewmaster and Economaster. Miller Construction Co. was a firm of general contractors headed by Edward P. Miller, president, and Glen W. Miller, vice-president, located at 6909 N. 13th. In 1952, Skyline Terrace had 25 homes under construction, with 10 completed.

The dining room of the "Tacoman," the model home built adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. The dining area opens off of the living room, but is separated from the kitchen with folding "Modernfold" accordion doors. The wings on the dining room table can be raised up to make a larger table. Built in cabinets of hemlock provide neccessary storage. A large window provides a view while dining. The ranch style model home had seven rooms and was built by Jardeen Brothers.

The living room of the "Tacoman," the model home built adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. The living area measured 380 square feet. The most modern feature of the room was the suspended ceiling panel, used for indirect lighting purposes. Baylaun mahogany framed the living space fireplace. The room was decorated in Country Modern, designed and crafted in Tacoma by Northwest Chair Co. The furniture has uncluttered lines that made it easy to care for.

The dining room and kitchen of the "Tacoman," the model home built adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. The dining rooms opens off the living area and is separated from the kitchen by folding accordion doors. The kitchen is tiled for easy cleaning of "splash areas" on walls and floors. The kitchen features a 1952 version of the old fashioned chopping block, which can be used for preparation of meat or as a bread board.

The family room of the "Tacoman," the model home built adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. Adjacent to the dining portion of the living area is the family room. A door separates the two areas. The garage lies on the other side of the family room. A huge Wilkinson stone fireplace is the focal point of the room. Built-in cabinets hold an automatic washer and dryer. When the washing is completed, the two can be pushed out of sight and the room used as a playroom for the kids, a game room or supplemental living space.

One of three bedrooms located in the "Tacoman," the model home built adjoining the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse for the fourth annual Tacoma Home Show. Each bedroom featured easy-to-reach built-in storage space for clothing and easy to open ventilating panels adjacent to the windows. A very bright wallpaper covers the rear wall.

Exposure of approximately 300 people at the Alcoholics Anonymous Banquet at the roof garden of the Masonic Temple. In June of 1952, Tacoma hosted a Northwest conference of 750 members of AA from cities in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, British Columbia and Alaska. Part of the purpose of the conference was to inform invited community leaders and dignitaries of the origins and goals of the organization. There are a few empty chairs at the Saturday night banquet but most of the tables are full and another group of people stand at the rear of the picture. It appears that the banquet has not begun- most places are set with salad plates and coffee cups. Some banquet attendees have brought their children. (T. Reporter 6/21/1952)

Sunset Electric Company presented a display of Frigidaire appliances at the 1952 Puyallup Fair featuring several sizes of refrigerator, an electric water heater, washer and dryer, a mandrel ironing machine, electric stoves, and an institutional sized milk cooler. A large sign over the washer and dryer announced, "Leisure Laundry."

50th Anniversary banquet of Troop B Cavalry and Washington Cavalry Association, held in Tacoma June 25th, 1938. The banquet gathered together all the cavalrymen who had ridden under the flag of Troop B, Tacoma's most famous military organization. Troop B was the oldest military group in the state and was often referred to as the "City Troop" by old timers. Its actual designation was Headquarters Troop, 24th Cavalry Division, Washington National Guard. Troop B served as the guard of honor at the inauguration of the first Governor of the state in 1889, as well as in conflicts in Mexico and Berlin. (T. Times 6/23/1938, pg. 8)

Children pose with their decorated bicycles at the Stadium Bowl, the terminus of the August 5, 1938 bicycle parade sponsored by the Tacoma Times and the Park Recreation Department of the Metropolitan Park District. Some of the more creative entries are a covered wagon and an airplane. The parade started at 2:30p.m. at 8th and Commerce, as hundreds of children wound through downtown streets and on to the Stadium Bowl to the cheering of thousands of proud parents. Prizes were given for the best decorated entries, funniest costumed rider, craziest looking bicycle and oldest bicycle. The top prizes were three 1939 Schwinn "World" bicycles with all the latest accessories- knee-action, motorcycle-type kick stand, rear vision mirrors and fore wheel brakes. (T. Young girls in costumes pose with their decorated bicycles for the judges to decide on the best decorated and funniest at the August 5, 1938 1st Annual Bicycle Race Meet & Parade. The parade of decorated bikes and their riders started downtown and ended at the Stadium Bowl. The days fun was sponsored by the Tacoma Times and the Park Recreation Department of the Metropolitan Park District. The races and parade had over 1500 participants. (T. The 19th century melodrama "United by Love" was being presented on August 23, 1938, on a Works Progress Administration (WPA) travelling stage to an appreciative outdoor audience in South Park. The "Theater on Wheels," a joint enterprise of the WPA and the Metropolitan Parks Board, had presented five complete shows a week since June 13th, playing six times around a circuit of ten Tacoma parks and playgrounds. Members of the Asbury Methodist Church WPA-coached drama club on stage were, left to right, Ruth Bristow, Milo Ernst, Pat O'Conner, Georgia "George" Kisor and Cyril Hansen. More than 100 performers presented shows featuring music by the 6-piece professional WPA orchestra, singing, dancing, dramatic sketches and sound movies. They played to more than 20,000 appreciative theater goers in June and July with August audiences slightly higher. Their season ended on August 31st, retiring the only travelling theater on the Pacific Coast for the year. (T. Times 8/24/1938, pg. 16)

Packed attendance at the Lorne F. Fox Party, the city wide salvation and healing campaign held at the Tent Cathedral at So. 23rd & Steele in August of 1953. The Rev. Lorne F. Fox was a traveling evangelist who appeared in Tacoma sponsored by the Full Gospel Fellowship of Tacoma. His traveling ministry offered music, prayer for the sick and claimed conversion of thousands. Rev. Lorne F. Fox was the primary speaker and musician. He played the piano, organ, accordion and Hawaiian guitar. Ruth L. Fox was the song leader and contralto soloist. Joe & Gerry Pontrello filled in as organist, trumpeter and vocalist. The Crusade had taken the internationally known musicians and evangelists to Alaska, Mexico, the West Indies and South America. Waterous Co. booth at the Fire Chief Convention. The Fire Chiefs from the nine western states, Alaska, Hawaii and the Philippines met in Tacoma for the 58th annual Conference of the Pacific Coast Inter-Mountain Association of Fire Chiefs. On Sept. 9th, 1953, the 600 Fire Chiefs and their wives commenced three days of business meetings, shoptalk and social activities, including a fire fighting exhibition at the Lincoln Bowl that was open to the public. Business meetings were held at the Elks Temple, where papers were delivered on fire fighting and prevention. Pictured are Tacoma Fire Chief Harold C. Fisk, 2nd from left, and J.W.
