1993 - Tacoma election

Written on back of VHS: This tape is a recording of the Municipal Television's coverage of the 1993 Tacoma municipal election returns. TV Tacoma hired a retired professional newscaster to moderate the returns. I (Bill Baarsma) was asked to comment on the returns and the trends as they came in from the auditor's office. The incumbent mayor, Karen Vialle, lost in a landslide upset as well as other surprise outcomes. Karen and Jack Hyde are interviewed during the broadcast.

Brief recording of the Department of Energy hearing in Tacoma concerning a proposal to site the Port of Tacoma as an entry point for the world's nuclear waste. Held before a standing room only crowd at the TPU auditorium. Council members Evans and Baarsma testifying in opposition. (Tape includes other unrelated materials.) (Aug or Sept 1995)
