Activities at Annie Wright Seminary. Ten members of the Seminary Athletic Council at Annie Wright Seminary pose with a plaque with a figure of the headless, winged victory. Several smaller, individual, engraved plaques hang from the bottom of the larger plaque. The council was one of the governing bodies at the seminary and planned athletic actiities, Dad's Day, Initiation, and the May Day Banquet. The girls wear one of their uniforms, dark skirts, white blouses with peter pan collars, a scarf at the collar opening and dark v-neck sweaters with the Annie Wright emblem on the left breast. Members of the R.O.T.C. at Bellarmine High School march in formation and the color guard carry the R.O.T.C. and United States flags in this photograph from May of 1950. The rifle team brought considerable publicity to the private school and city by winning second place in the Sixth Army intercollegiate and interscholastic rifle matches, small bore; second place in the William Randolph Hearst rifle competition in the Army area; and sixth place in the entire United States. Presentation of medals to members of Bellarmine High School Rifle Team. Members of the R.O.T.C. march in formation and the color guard carries the R.O.T.C. and United States flags. Bellarmine became the second high school in the State of Washington to secure a Junior Reserve Officer Taining Corps program in 1935. At that time the program served mainly as a vehicle to help students attend the high school. The annual outdoor May Day Program was held Friday, May 5, 1950, at Stewart Junior High School. The ceremonies climaxed a year's work and competition in health and posture training. Gault Junior High School was named after Dr. Franklin B. Gault, Superintendent of Tacoma Public Schools between 1888 to 1892. The school was built and opened in 1926, it was originally called Franklin B. Gault Intermediate School, but was renamed Gault Junior High School in 1928. Fife High School Senior Class, News Tribune, Mr. Knight. Sisty-six students were graduated at Fife High School June 1, 1949. Pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima in St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Sister Marie Geralds. The renowned "Pilgrim Virgin" statue of Our Lady of Fatima arrived Sunday, May 29, 1949, at St. Patrick's Church for two days and two nights on its "Crusade for Peace" across America. Carved from cedar by Thedim, Portugal's foremost sculptor, it is a replica of the statue of the Blessed Virgin which stood in the Basilica in the Cova da Iria, 60 miles north of Lisbon where the Mother of God appeared to three small children in 1917. The students met every Monday and Friday in dance studio to practice, under the direction of Mis Nancy Jane Bare. They performed for the Christmas party, "Prince Rupert" and "Hunting for the Christmas Tree", for May Day, and a mid-year recital with "Gossip" and "Rondina".
