An elevated view of two tug boats maneuver log booms through an island studded portion of Puget Sound. Log booms are made by connecting the outside logs to one another with cable while the interior logs are floating free. This is the traditional method of transporting a large number of logs in the northwest waters. The logs in the left front are very large. TPL-9245

The Towers Restaurant was about to begin an expansion, which would make it one of the largest dining and dance club. Seating capacity would be 487 people. It will overlook the Narrows of Puget Sound and the new Narrows Bridge. The Towers was designed by architects, Lance, McGuire and Muri. Photo ordered by Nick Redonich, manager and co-owner (T. KIRO crowd at Roxy for Sears style show. More than 2,000 women lined up outside the Roxy Theatre hoping to get in to see the Charmode Corsetry Style Show, sponsored by KIRO Radio and Sears. Post-war Jubilee Queen. Phyllis Hale was crowned Post-war Jubilee Queen at Wright Park. Phyllis is 17 years old and a junior at Lincoln High School. She represented the Tacoma Athletic Commission. This is the third "Royal Title" for Phyllis; she was May Queen at Stewart Junior High School and Junior Prom Queen this year at Lincoln High School (T. Times, 6/26/46, p. 1).

Tacoma Mayor C. Val Fawcett, (2nd from R), with a group of men attending the Electrical Products Banquet at the University - Union Club the evening of his June 3rd swearing in. Mayor Fawcett was already well known in Tacoma politics as he had served four terms as finance commissioner and also assumed the duties of mayor for an extended period of time when Harry P. Tacoma Boat just finished "Carrie", a 45 foot combination troller. The fishing boat was one of four recently finished boats. "Carrie" was built for Martin Nelson of Seattle. Tacoma Boatbuilding Co. specialized in fishing boats and were the manufacturers of "Northern Drag and Anchor Winches" (T. Times, 7/3/46, p. 3).
