H. V. Howlett Jr. is one of the newest members of Tacoma's police department. Twenty three year old Howlett is said to have the largest shoulders, his measurements are: 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, biceps are 18-1/2 inches, chest 52 inches, waist 33 inches, forearms 13-1/2 inches and shoulders are 25 inches. Howlett is from Boston, in his spare time he likes to work out with bar bells and wrestle. He is hoping pro-wrestling will return to Tacoma, in Southern California he entered the ring professionally and became known as the "Iron Dutchmen" (T. Times, 5/25/48, p. 7).

Police Desk Sergeant, Art Gilbo, dispatched Tacoma Police Department's detectives and patrolmen when he received a call that Puget Sound National Bank was being robbed in December of 1948. Detective Lesnick and Policeman Hager apprehended Donald Anderson while he was attempting to rob the bank of $20,000. Law enforcement officials also found a kidnapping note in Anderson's pocket, this matter is under investigation by the FBI. Josephine Patrick and Zella Newcomb were standing trial for disorderly conduct at the Tacoma Police Court on March 2, 1949. The women were represented by attorney John M. Coffee; they were charged with interfering with Police Captain, Larry Amundsen, while in the line of duty. Police Judge Frank Hale found the women guilty and fined them $10, the trial lasted two hours and forty minutes. Seated in front row left to right: John M.
