A mobile chest x-ray unit made a stop at Northwest Door, 1203 East D Street, in April of 1945, to offer x-rays to detect the presence of tuberculosis in the company's workers. A Northwest Door employee is having a chest x-ray taken by Ellen Tuttle. Unknowing adults could develop an advanced case of the highly contagious disease and spread it to others before they showed any definitive symptoms. Mark Lauderback's name is on the clip Ms. Tuttle is putting into the x-ray machine. (T. Times, 3/22/1945, p.1; 4/4/1945, p.4; TNT, 5/11/1945, p.3)
