The Military Order of Cooties presented a radio phonograph to the staff of American Lake Veterans' Hospital in appreciation of their service in April 1946. Tyee Pup Tent No. 13 of the women's organization was based in the American Lake Gardens area of Lakewood. The American Lake Veterans' Hospital opened in 1923. Left to right: Gladys Shaw, Margaret Hargreaves, Dr. R. E. Petrone, unidentified, Stasia Dunn, unidentified and Commander Stephen Gabis. Photo taken for the Red Cross. (T. Times, 5/7/46, p. 2).
