Washington Gas and Electric Company had recently installed a modern gas stove in Ralph and Hazel Schaeffer's home. The Tacoma Moose Lodge sponsored the youth accordion band as part of its civic affairs program. The youngsters gave concerts open to the public the second Sunday afternoon of each month in the Moose Temple on Commerce Street. Any accordionist under 21 was eligible. R.A. Ed Miller, President of Miller Construction Company, Inc. was one of the founders of the Homebuilders' Association of Tacoma. This organization was affiliated with the National Association of Homebuilders of the United States; the group promoted better values in homes, developed efficiency in the homebuilding industry, and they continuously promoted long-range plans to expand further building developments in this area (T.N.T., 4/26/49, p. 22).

Green's Optometrists were local optometrists and opticians serving the Tacoma and Pierce County area. The optical offices were located at 254 South 11th Street and a branch office was located at 1104 South K Street; Dr. Charles A. Green, O.D. was the owner of the practice.
