Four White trucks with trailers and a single trailer are parked at the loading dock at Feltrok Insulation Manufacturing Company. The company made insulation for home and industrial usage. In July 1952 it was announced that American Rock Wool Corporation with headquarters at Wabash, Indiana, had purchased the Feltrok plant. (The Reporter, 7/21/1952, p.3)

Paul B. Braaten's home. The front door opens directly into the living room area of the home. The dining area is immediately adjacent to the living room with no divider. Draperies cover the picture window in that area. A fire burns brightly in the brick fireplace. The upholstery is of a low contrast pattern as is the rug. The drop-leaf dining table and chairs is of a dark wood in an older style. Ordered by William R. Morben, builder.

A crowd filled the lower level of Chapel Auditorium in the new chapel-music-speech building at Pacific Lutheran College. Dr. Seth C. Eastvold, president of the college, is speaking from a podium on the stage (lower left). A practice room in the new chapel-music-speech building at Pacific Lutheran College as photographed in March of 1952. Some of the larger instruments for an orchestra have been left in the room behind the chairs and music stands: timpani, snare drums, chimes, sousaphones, and a bass violin. A piano stands on the floor below three steps for the other musicians to perform.

This one-story clinker-brick duplex with a wide chimney in the center of the front of the building was for sale by ABJ Builders. Located near the corner of Manitou-Custer Road and Steilacoom Boulevard, it was listed in the newspaper for $21,500. The duplex was advertised as having fireplaces, ceramic tile baths, tile drainboards and separate heating, utility rooms and storage drooms. A double brick garage was also included. ABJ Buildiers were located at 7119 Hollyhedge Lane. (TNT, 3/9/1952, p.C-14)

The new fleet of 45 Jordan Baking Company trucks, painted blue and white, had already begun distribution of the firm's new and improved loaf, "Sunbeam Bread". Jasper R. and Golden Harman's home is ready for remodeling. The small one-story house has a small fenced yard. A small dog sits on the porch. Two small windows are seen on the two sides shown in this photograph. A tank set on a wooden frame stands by the back door. A venting pipe for a stove is seen coming through the roof. It appears that the back portion of the house has been added on since the roofing material changes along a line. Behind the house is a clothesline and another small structure. The Steven Motor Company occupied two buildings in downtown Tacoma on Broadway in 1952. They sold new Chrysler Corporation cars from 734 Broadway, which also had an entrance at 733 St. Helens; and used cars from 738 Broadway. The showroom was open evenings until 9:00 Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Steven Motor Company was founded by Everett T. Steven who started in the automobile business while still a youngster polishing the brass on new cars. The Steven Motor Company left downtown South Tacoma Way in 1959. These buildings are still standing in the heart of Tacoma's Antique Row.(TNT, 3/14/1952, p.B-2)

A new bottle shop was included in the expansion program at Columbia Breweries begun in 1949. Earlier legislation had required bottling works to be across the road from the brew house. Columbia Breweries' new bottle shop has expanded into new, three-story facilities along South C Street with state-of-the-art bottling lines filling 2,400 cases per hour. One hundred and fifty persons are employed in this department under the supervision of I.E. Heath, bottle shop manager, and his assistant manager, Lawrence Alnutt.

The temporary branch opened March 24, 1952, in an addition to Lakewood Center, directly south of the main shopping center, across the parking lot. Progress photographs on construction of Puget Sound National Bank's temporary Lakewood Branch. The Lakewood Branch opened in temporary headquarters - a 35 x 75 foot plywood building - 10 working days after obtaining the Comptroller's approval. Plans for a permanent building to be located adjacent to the temporary building and on Gravelly Lake Drive were to begin immediately. The permanent branch opened on October 5, 1953.
