The Tacoma All-stars bowling team took on a Seattle team in April and May of 1945 in the fourth annual inter-city championship tournament. Bowling for Tacoma were: seated (l to r) Ted Tadich and Bill Eggleston, wearing matching bowling shirts, and standing (l to r) are Pvt. Joe Wilman, Johny Radonich and Frank Barker. Pvt. Wilman was a nationally known bowler from Chicago who bowled for Ft. Lewis. Johny Radonich and Frank Barker bowled for Teamsters Local 313. (T. Times, 4/10/45, p. 9).

James H. March, Jr., in vest, chaps, and cowboy hat, sat astride "Royal Attraction", a 7-year-old stallion owned by Mr. James March to help promote the 1945 Tacoma Rodeo. A "World Championship Rodeo" sanctioned by the Rodeo Association of America was held on July 20,21 and 22, 1945 at the Tacoma Rodeo Grounds, South 99th and South Tacoma Way. Riders competing in the various events scored points toward deciding the national championship titles in bronc riding, roping and steer wrestling among other events. The rodeo was sponsored locally by the South Tacoma Kiwanians and the South Tacoma Business Men's Club. (T.Times 7/19/1945 p.13) (James March, Jr. was identified by his sister.)

Arctic Bottling Company for H.J. Geissler. This two-story building runs across the block from Saint Helens Avenue to Tacoma Avenue. Decorative stone carvings outline the windows on the second floor and the arched windows and entry way on the lower floor. Next door is the Hambone Eatery and the Winthrop Motor Company. Commander Jack Dempsey, U.S.C.G, the former heavyweight champion of the world, was referee at the main event of a boxing night held at the Tacoma Armory on June 5, 1945 to raise money for the 7th War Bond drive. Ed Griffin family. Ed Griffin was a prominent Tacoma businessman, born July 27, 1908, and died March 8, 1955. Six boys and a girl pose outside with their dog and cat on June 20, 1945. Woodbrook Hunt Club. The Woodbrook Hunt Club was founded in May of 1926 and is the oldest hunting club in the Northwest. They held their fifth annual gymkhana of riding events on May 27, 1945 at Wrightacres on Clover Creek south of Tacoma. The nine events listed on the program included both English and Western styles. Ex-Mayor J.J. Kaufman, wife Wavie, Mrs. Harry (Marjorie) Cain and Harry Jr. (Buzzie), at a tribute to Mayor Cain held at the Temple Theatre on October 2, 1944. Lt. Col. Cain was serving in Europe with the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. Hundreds of friends and well-wishers from around the Puget Sound gathered to enjoy vaudevillian acts and listen to short speeches regarding the absent Mayor Cain. Governor Arthur B. Langlie popped in unexpectedly to praise Harry Cain highly. Mayor Cain would serve in the European theater from 1943-1945; subsequently returned home to resume his duties as Tacoma's mayor until he was elected as a Republican to the U.S. Senate in 1946.
