Forbidden City. Interior view of the new Forbidden City restaurant located in Puyallup at 327 South Meridian. This may have been the lounge portion of the restaurant; featured ornate chandeliers, modernistic chairs and patterned carpets. The Forbidden City was celebrating its grand opening in June of 1971. A full page advertisement ran in the June 20th edition of the News Tribune welcoming diners to this "Chinese and cosmopolitan" restaurant. Imported from San Francisco's Fairmount Hotel were the Cooper Sisters, singers and comedians, who would appear at the restaurant until June 26th. (TNT 6-20-71, A-19)
