A row of new houses in a housing development are shown in this February, 1950, photograph. The house in the foreground abuts the sidewalk and has a two-car garage attached at the far end. Large picture windows are covered with venetian blinds on the inside. The roof appears to be covered with cedar shakes. Ordered by Harold O. Buck.

Interior exposure of a home at 944 So. Mountain View Ave designed and built by Tietz Construction in the Narrowmoor housing addition. The living room wall was all glass for owners to enjoy the view of the Sound. The television console sat against the wall beneath the mirror. Boldly checked wallpaper adorns the walls and ceilings of the room beyond. In 1952, this was the home of George Petrich.

Before photograph of kitchen at 3716 North 37th Street, owned by Harold Stamey, Stamey Insurance Service, Inc. This view of the kitchen features the sink and counter area between the back door on the right and a breakfast nook on the left. The window above the sink is flanked by tall cabinets. One of the drawers on the lower left is missing and the family have found a use for it stacking items in it. The house was built in 1916 and shows wear and tear.

Exterior view of the home that Wollander Farwest Homes and Wollander Better Builder Plans designed and built for Tacoma's first annual home show; this house was on display at College of Puget Sound's new Memorial Fieldhouse gymnasium. This house was designed and built in about three weeks, people who attended the home show could register to win this home and landscaped yard, which was valued at $8,500 (T.N.T., 4/26/49, p. 26).

The siding, sealed and treated against rot, mildew, and termites, was also waterproofed. The company had "an introductory offer for being the first house in your neighborhood". A chimney and dormers are present on this sprawling wooden structure. The location is unknown; it could possibly be in a park-like environment.

Wollander Far West Homes at Mountlake Terrace. A row of one-story houses in the Mountlake Terrace housing development built of cement block and pictured in December of 1950. The sign along the road reads, "Dura-Plex, Three Bedrooms, Recreation Room, Double Plumbing, $8,999."

This house at the corner of North 27th and Tyler was built in 1907 not as a private residence but as a grocery store. From 1908 through 1918 it was the Andrew Larson Grocery. In 1919 the store was taken over by Boe Pederson. Shortly after that, Mr. Pederson opened a grocery at 313 So. 9th. He remodeled his store at 4202 No. 27th into a single family home. Exterior view of one story unit. It is unclear whether this is the front or back entrance to the residence. Style is contemporary with slightly sloping roofline. Light colored masonry to the side of the door may be an outdoor barbecue. There is apparently a basement as small windows can barely be seen ground level.

This appears to be the back entrance to a duplex which may have been recently constructed at 2512 No. McCarver Street. View shows chimney and screened back door. Also in photograph, which was taken on September 13, 1950, is roof overhang which connects the two buildings.

The exterior of the Franke Tobey Jones Home. The English Tudor-style home for old ladies was built in 1924. The facility was first called Restholme but was later renamed in honor of its benefactor Franke M. Tobey Jones. Franke M. Tobey Jones was the wife of C.H. Jones, one of the four founders of the St. Paul and Tacoma Lumber Company. TPL-5772

Ranch home at Interlaaken, Karl H. Kaman contractor. An exterior view of the one-story home with dormers that has recently been resurfaced with "Perma-stone". Possibly the Rothwell residence. Perma-Stone was an enduring material, cast with molds on walls of wood, brick, block, stucco or tile, new or old construction.
