On September 5, 1941, Lois Elizabeth Nelson and Dean Gifford Thompson were married in a romantic candlelight ceremony at the First Lutheran Church. The glowing bride is pictured with her attendants on the church's altar. Mrs. Thompson was attended by (in no particular order) her youngest sister Doris Nelson as maid of honor in a "rose dust" gown and four bridesmaids attired in aqua gowns, Mrs. Marco Magnano (also a sister), Charlene Anderson, Virginia Jones and Mrs. Victor Bernard Gunderson (matron of honor.) Schillinger-Rouse wedding. Rev. Eldon Lyso of Seattle officiated at the wedding of Susan Lynn Schillinger and Richard Warren Rouse on June 19, 1971, at Peninsula Lutheran Church in Gig Harbor. The couple are pictured in the act of lighting candles. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald W. Schillinger of Vaughn. She attended Pacific Lutheran University where she was a member of the Homecoming court and graduated from Clarke College in Iowa. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rouse of Kirkland. He is a Pacific Lutheran University graduate and is studying for the Lutheran ministry. The newlyweds will make their first home in Waverly, Iowa. Photograph ordered by Mrs. R.W. Schillinger. Strickland-Taylor wedding. The large wedding party poses for an October 23, 1965, formal group portrait in the Allen A.M.E. Church. Joyce Wells and Terry Wells were the flower girls and Andre Croskey, the ringbearer. The maid of honor, matron of honor and bridesmaids wore azalea-colored A-line gowns. They were: Dorothy Wells, Mrs. James Griffin, Margo Strickland, Wendy Strickland, Patricia Evans, Paulette Nunn and Ruby Nell. The groom was assisted by his best man, his brother Michael Taylor, and six ushers: Melvin Collins, Rodney Tanner, Joseph Murphy, James Griffin, John Asheley and Matthew Jones. Candlelighters were Brenda Wells and William Watkins. Mamie Elizabeth Strickland wed Rev. Richard Edward Taylor in front of approximately 250-300 guests.
