Between 1897- 1920, Denny Hill was leveled using a variety of earth-moving techniques such as steam-shoveling, grading, and sluicing.

Three photos of the La Push Ocean Park Resort: a view from the top deck of the hotel, looking towards the beach and James Island; a view from inside a unit looking out over mounds of driftwood on the beach below; and a view of a unit's interior, including 70's style furniture and decor. La Push is located on the Olympic Peninsula of the Washington coast, on the Quileute Reservation. This resort, still in existence but greatly expanded and modified, overlooks a cove called First Beach.
